July 2013. Provisional data
In July, the number of property transfers was 148,080, 10.2% more
than in the same month of the previous year
The annual rate of merchanting of dwellings decreases 5.0%, as
compared with July 2012
The number of property transfers recorded in the land registries (from public deeds
previously registered) was 148,080 in July, that is, 10.2% more than that of the same
month of 2012, and 8.0% higher than that registered in June 2013.
In the case of registered merchanting of property, the number of transfers was 58,490,
representing an annual increase of 2.7%, 9.6% higher as compared with the previous month.

Merchanting recorded in the land registries
83.6% of the registered merchanting in July corresponded to urban properties and 16.4% to
rustic properties. Among the urban properties, 52.6% were merchanting of dwellings.
The number of merchanting of rustic properties increased 24.1% in the annual rate in July,
and that of urban properties decreased 0.7%. Within the latter, merchanting of dwellings
decreased 5.0%.

Evolution of the monthly rate
In order to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following chart shows
the variation in the number of merchanting of dwellings between the months of June and July
of the last five years. In 2013, the monthly rate was 7.3%, representing 0.6 points more than
that of last year.

Registered merchanting on dwellings, by protection system and status
91.2% of transfers of dwellings by merchanting in July were free housing, and 8.8% were
protected housing. In annual terms, the number of transfers of free dwellings by merchanting
decreased 1.3%, and that of protected housing decreased 32.0%.

The number of transactions on new dwellings decreased 11.1%, and the number of used
dwellings increased 0.5%, as compared with July 2012.

Geographical distribution
In July 2013, the total number of property transfers recorded in the land registries per
100,000 inhabitants2 reached its highest value in the Autonomous Communities of La Rioja
(620) and Castilla y León (606).
The Autonomous Community showing the highest annual variation rates was Región de
Murcia (36.7%).
In turn, the Autonomous Community that registered the highest annual decrease was
Extremadura (–12.3%).

The Autonomous Communities showing the highest annual variation rate in the mercharting
on dwellings in July were Canarias (32.1%) and Región de Murcia (30.0%).
In turn, those showing the greatest decreases were Extremadura (–39.3%) and Principado
de Asturias (–38.0%).
