In December, the number of property transfers registered is 124,616
properties, that is, 9.2% more than in the same month of 2013
The merchanting of registered dwellings increases by 15.7%, as
compared to December of the previous year
The number of property transfers recorded in the land registries (from public deeds
previously registered) was 124,616 in December, that is, 9.2% more than in the same
month of 2013.
Regarding the merchanting of registered properties, the number of transfers was 55,959,
14.7% more than in December 2013.

Merchanting recorded in the land registries
83.1% of the registered merchanting in December corresponded to urban properties and
16.9% to rustic properties. Among the urban properties, 55.9% were merchanting of
dwellings.
In December, the number of merchanting of rustic properties increased by 5.9% in the
annual rate, and that of urban properties did so by 16.7%. Within the latter, merchanting of
dwellings recorded an annual variation of 15.7%.

Evolution of the monthly rate
In order to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following chart shows
the variation in the number of merchanting of dwellings between the months of November
and December of the last five years. In 2014, the monthly rate was 3.2%, the highest in the
period.

Registered merchanting on dwellings, by protection system and status
89.2% of transfers of dwellings by merchanting in December were free housing, and 10.8%
were protected housing.
In annual terms, the number of transfers of free dwellings by merchanting increased by
25.6%, and that of protected dwellings did so by 29.9%.
27.8% of the dwellings transferred by merchanting in December were new, and 72.2% were
used.
The number of transactions on new dwellings decreased by 33.1%, and the number of used
dwellings increased by 61.1%, as compared to December 2013.

Results by Autonomous Community
In December 2014, the total number of property transfers recorded in the land registries per
100,000 inhabitants2 reached its highest value in the Autonomous Communities of La Rioja
(587), Castilla y León (523) and Aragón (521).
The Autonomous Communities which registered the greatest annual variations were Illes
Balears (54.1%) and Región de Murcia (39.8%).
In turn, the Autonomous Communites that registered the lowest annual rates were
Cantabria (–21.8%) and Principado de Asturias (–11.6%).

The Autonomous Communities showing the greatest annual variation rates in the
merchanting of dwellings in December were Extremadura (75.7%), La Rioja (55.8%) and
País Vasco (47.7%).
In turn, the only Autonomous Communities recording negative rates were Comunidad de
Madrid (–26.9%), Galicia (–4.7%) and Principado de Asturias (–3.1%).

The number of property transfers recorded in the land registries was 1,561,287 in 2014,
that is, 4.6% less than in 2013.
In the case of the merchanting of registered properties, the number of transfers was 699,165,
representing an increase of 1.9%, as compared with the previous year.

to rustic properties. Among the urban properties, 55.0% were merchantings of dwellings.
The number of merchantings of rustic properties increased 7.3%, and that of urban
properties did so by 0.9%. Within the latter, merchantings of dwellings increased 2.2%. This
rate was 4.1 points higher than that registered in 2013.

Geographical distribution in 2014
In 2014, the total number of property transfers recorded in the land registries per 100,000
inhabitants3 reached its highest value in the Autonomous Communities of La Rioja (6,841)
and Castilla y León (6,769).
The only Autonomous Communities showing positive annual variation rates were Illes
Balears (10.3%), Comunidad Foral de Navarra (4.1%) and País Vasco (3.9%). In turn, those
showing the greatest decreases were La Rioja (–15.2%) and Cantabria (–12.4%).

The Autonomous Communities showing the greatest increases in the number of
mercharting of dwellings in 2014 were Illes Balears (18.5%), Comunidad Foral de Navarra
(13.9%) and Canarias (12.0%). Those showing the highest decreases were La Rioja
(–25.1%), Castilla La-M ancha (–12.6%) and Región de M urcia (–6.3%).
