In August, the number of property transfers registered is 134,521
properties, that is, 8.4% more than in the same month of the
previous year
The merchanting of registered dwellings increases by 20.3%, as
compared with August of 2015
The number of property transfers recorded in the land registries (from public deeds
previously registered) was 134,521 in August, that is, 8.4% more than in the same month
of 2015.
Regarding the merchanting of registered properties, the number of transfers was 69,409,
with a 13.8% annual increase.

Merchanting recorded in the land registries
87.1% of the registered merchanting in August corresponded to urban properties and 12.9%
to rustic properties. Among the urban properties, 58.7% were merchanting of dwellings.
In August, the number of merchanting of rustic properties increased by 1.9% in the annual
rate, and that of urban properties increased 15.8%. Within the latter, merchanting of
dwellings recorded an annual increase of 20.3%.

Evolution of the monthly rate
In order to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following chart shows
the variation in the number of merchanting of dwellings between the months of July and
August of the last five years. In 2016, the monthly rate was 7.3%, that is, 17.1 points more
than that of the previous year.

Registered merchanting on dwellings, by protection system and status
89.9% of transfers of dwellings by merchanting in August were free housing, and 10.1% were
protected housing.
In annual terms, the number of transfers of free dwellings by merchanting increased by
19.9%, and that of protected dwellings increased by 24.0%.
17.2% of the dwellings transferred by merchanting in August were new, and 82.8% were
used.
The number of transactions on new dwellings increased by 3.3% as compared to August
2015 and, the number of used dwellings increased by 24.6%.

Results by Autonomous Community
In August 2016, the total number of property transfers recorded in the land registries per
100,000 inhabitants1 reached its highest value in La Rioja (607), Aragón (592) and Castilla y
León (510).
Extremadura (28.9%), Aragón (19.9%) and Illes Balears (17.9%) registered the greatest annual
variations.
In turn, the Autonomous Communities that registered the lowest annual rates were La Rioja
(–36.0%), Región de Murcia (–7.8%) and Galicia (–4.5%).

highest number of transfers per 100,000 inhabitants2 were Illes Balears (142), Comunitat
Valenciana (125) and Andalucía and Cataluña (both with 108).

STPR - AUGUST 2016 (4/8)
The Autonomous Communities showing the greatest annual variation rate in the
merchanting of dwellings in August were Illes Balears (49.2%), Cataluña (41.0%) and
Comunidad Foral de Navarra (38.1%).
In turn, Región de Murcia (–5.2%), Galicia (4.0%) and Comunidad de Madrid (10.4%)
registered the lowest annual rates in August.
