In May, the number of property transfers registered is 150,827
properties, that is, 9.6% more than in the same month of the
previous year
The merchanting of registered dwellings increases by 23.6%, as
compared with May of 2015
The number of property transfers recorded in the land registries (from public deeds
previously registered) was 150,827 in March, that is, 9.6% more than in the same month of
2015.
Regarding the merchanting of registered properties, the number of transfers was 74,919,
with a 19.7% annual increase.

Merchanting recorded in the land registries
84.4% of the registered merchanting in May corresponded to urban properties and 15.6% to
rustic properties. Among the urban properties, 57.6% were merchanting of dwellings.
InMay, the number of merchanting of rustic properties increased by 8.1% in the annual rate,
and that of urban properties increased 22.2%. Within the latter, merchanting of dwellings
recorded an annual increase of 23.6%.

Evolution of the monthly rate
In order to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following chart shows
the variation in the number of merchanting of dwellings between the months of April and May
of the last five years. In 2016, the monthly rate was 3.5%, that is, 4.5 points less than that of
the previous year.

Registered merchanting on dwellings, by protection system and status
89.3% of transfers of dwellings by merchanting in May were free housing, and 10.7% were
protected housing.
In annual terms, the number of transfers of free dwellings by merchanting increased by
22.7%, and that of protected dwellings increased by 31.7%.
19.2% of the dwellings transferred by merchanting in May were new, and 80.8% were used.
The number of transactions on new dwellings increased by 12.0% as compared to May 2015
and, the number of used dwellings increased by 26.7%.

Results by Autonomous Community
In May 2016, the total number of property transfers recorded in the land registries per
100,000 inhabitants1 reached its highest value in La Rioja (717), Castilla y León (634) and
Aragón (604).
Illes Balears (40.4%), Región de Murcia (31.0%) and País Vasco (27.1%) registered the
greatest annual variations.
In turn, the Autonomous Communities that registered the lowest annual rates were Galicia (–
22.5%), La Rioja (–6.9%) and Cantabria (–4.7%).

highest number of transfers per 100,000 inhabitants1 were Illes Balears (159) and La Rioja
(155).

STPR - MAY 2016 (4/8)
The Autonomous Community showing the greatest annual variation rate in the merchanting
of dwellings in May were Illes Balears (70.0%) and La Rioja (68.9%).
In turn, Comunidad Foral de Navarra (–20.2%) and Cantabria (1.7%) registered the
lowest annual rates in May.
