Dear Friends,
As was announced last weekend, Fr Lucas needs to return to his religious family in Colombia. This is a
great loss to our parish! It is my hope that Fr Lucas will be able to return- but only the Lord knows! At the
very least he will be back in October to offer a retreat and Vigil for the feast of All Saints. We will plan a
fitting celebration for him at that time – if for sure he is unable to stay with us. I have known Fr Lucas for
almost 8 years – he was with me in my former parish. When I was assigned here 4 years ago as your pastor I
knew he would love to be here at St Barts and I knew you would love him---and I was correct! Fr Lucas is not
only a wonderful priest but also a great friend to me. I too will miss him very much and am sad. At the same
time I realize that he must do what needs to be done – therefore he has my support and prayers.
Fr Humberto Bravo, the priest – psychologist from Cuba who was here last summer will be returning
next week. He will be with us until the end of August and will offer evenings of formation for our families—
just like last year. I look forward to having him with us and I know you do too!
In the next few weeks I will announce a priest who will be here to assist as a parochial vicar and will
be working with the Spanish speaking community as well as the entire St Bart’s family. Once again,
I am grateful for your continued support and prayers.

Como se anunció el pasado fin de semana, el padre Lucas tiene que regresar a su familia
religiosa en Colombia. ¡Ésta es una gran pérdida para nuestra parroquia! Tengo la esperanza de que el
P. Lucas pueda volver, ¡pero sólo el Señor sabe! Al menos él estará de regreso en Octubre para ofrecer un
retiro y la Vigilia por la festividad de Todos los Santos. Vamos a planear una celebración apropiada para él en
ese momento, si es seguro que él no puede quedarse con nosotros. He conocido al P. Lucas por casi 8 años,
él estaba conmigo en mi antigua parroquia. Cuando me asignaron aquí hace 4 años como su pastor sabía que
a él le encantaría estar aquí en San Bartolomé y sabía que a Uds. les encantaría él, ¡y estaba en lo cierto!
El P. Lucas no sólo es un sacerdote maravilloso, sino también un gran amigo para mí. Yo también voy a
echarlo de menos mucho y estoy triste. Al mismo tiempo me doy cuenta de que tenía que hacer lo que
hay que hacer, por lo tanto él tiene mi apoyo y oraciones.

próxima semana. Él estará con nosotros hasta fines de Agosto y ofrecerá noches de formación para nuestras
familias, al igual que el año pasado. ¡Espero tenerlo con nosotros y sé que uds. también!
En las próximas semanas voy a anunciar al sacerdote que va a estar aquí para ayudar como vicario
parroquial y estará trabajando con la comunidad de habla española, así también como con toda la familia
de San Bartolomé. Una vez más, estoy agradecido por su continuo apoyo y oraciones.

documents that may have legal or religious
purposes, it is required that persons requesting those
documents be registered and be active members of St
Bartholomew Parish. We can not give any of these
documents to persons not registered in the parish.

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
Every Thursday is our parish prayer day as we adore
the Lord – His holy Body and Blood – in the sacred
monstrance.
Exposition begins immediately
following the 9 a.m. mass in the chapel and
continues until benediction at 7 p.m. All are encouraged to stop in the chapel on Thursday to pray and
spend some time with Jesus.
EXPOSICIÓN DEL SANTÍSIMO SACRAMENTO: Cada
jueves es nuestro día de oración parroquial ya que
adoramos al Señor, Su santo Cuerpo y Sangre, en la
sagrada
custodia.
La
exposición
comienza
inmediatamente después de la Misa de 9 am en la
capilla y continúa hasta la bendición a las 7 pm. Todos
son invitados a hacer una parada en la capilla los
jueves para orar y pasar un tiempo con Jesús.

The Share to our Parish
We are pleased to remind you that 50% of all funds raised
will be returned directly to St. Bartholomew Church for our
own parish needs. This money has been earmarked for much
needed capital improvements and enhancements to our church,
such as the church exterior: As with all properties, after years
of exposure to the elements, our church roof is in need of
renovation. We will also be using the funds from this campaign
to install air-conditioning in the church.

In the past few months, St. Barts has raised more
than $260,000 from 3% of our parish community
towards our goal of $940,000. Weare grateful for
our current donors and invite each and every household to contribute to the success of this initiative in
a manner appropriate for them. It is our goal to receive a prayerful decision from every parish household.

What’s next for Generations of Faith at St. Barts? In the next few weeks, you will be invited to special orientations at the parish to
learn more about this effort. Once you’ve prayed about your decision, please remember to return your pledge card in one of the
following ways:

considerar un compromiso a este esfuerzo que apoyara a nuestra iglesia y a todo Brooklyn y Queens. Una vez que hayas orado
acerca de su decisión, por favor devuelva su Carta de Compromiso en alguna de las siguientes maneras:
