Theologians throughout the Christian centuries have
spilled much ink (and, on occasion, some blood) in
describing and defining the mystery of the Holy Trinity. One of the earliest, most poetic, and beautiful descriptions comes from St. Augustine in De Trinitas,
wherein he describes the Trinity as One (the Father)
who loves, One (the Son) who is loved, and One (the
Spirit) who is love. And these three Ones are also one
Three. It might be wisest for us to leave the technical
wranglings to the academic theologians, and focus on
the fact that the three Persons of the Trinity are indeed
persons; they are best known and understood in their
love for each other and for us. We are made in the image of those loving persons, and our best relationships
are lived out in the context of love. Truly loving relationships are inexhaustible mysteries to be lived in
joy. If this is true of our human relationships, how
much more so is it true of our relationship with the
Trinity. And how much more does it call upon us to
be joyful, loving witnesses of the holy mystery of the
One-in-Three. This is the mystery to which we were
called when we were chosen to be God's own, baptized with water in the name of the Holy Trinity.

O, Lord God of hosts, O God of our salvation, O God who alone workest
wonders, do thou now look down with mercy and compassion on thy humble
servants and out of love for mankind hearken and have mercy on us. Look
with mercy, we pray thee, O Lord, on those of our sons and daughters who
now serve in our Armed Forces, and who in obedience to their superiors
have for our sakes placed themselves in harm’s way. Grant that those who
request the protection of thy right hand may be overpowered by no adverse
force, and may the invited defense of thy mighty power shield thy faithful
sons and daughters. Watch over them, O Lord, and bring them back safely
to those who love them. Grant courage and steadfast faith to them and to
those who long for their return. Bring a quick and bloodless end to these
conflicts and spare the lives of the innocent. Grant no increase to the numbers of widows and orphans and relieve the privations of the bereaved and
wounded, whether wounded in body or in soul. Restore peace in our day, O

Evangelio de la Semana
Mateo 28:16-20
En aquel tiempo, los once
discípulos se fueron a
Galilea, al monte que Jesús
les había indicado. Al
verlo, ellos se postraron,
pero algunos vacilaban.
Acercándose a ellos, Jesús
les dijo: “Se me ha dado
pleno poder en el cielo y en
la tierra. Id y haced
discípulos de todos los
pueblos, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre y del
Hijo y del Espíritu Santo; y enseñándoles a guardar
todo lo que os he mandado. Y sabed que yo estoy con
vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo.”
La lectura de hoy nos presenta tres ideas importantes:

El puente entre el tiempo de Pascua y la
continuación del Tiempo Ordinario es la
solemnidad que se exalta en el origen, resum en, y
meta de nuestra experiencia de Dios en Jesucristo,
una experiencia de Dios como la relación infinita,
de la comunión de las personas divinas.
La Trinidad es el único Dios vivo. La Iglesia
articula este corazón de la revelación cristiana,
pero mas importante todavía – recibe esto como el
gran Misterio vivo quien es Dios mismo.
Haber sido creados en la “imagen” y en la
“semejanza” de Dios, los seres humanos han de
buscar vivir en comunión con Dios y con el
prójimo. La Iglesia esta llamada a ser señal e
instrumento de esta comunión en el mundo.
Reflexión Dominical
Una de las mas antiguas, mas poéticas y mas hermosas descripciones de la Santísima Trinidad se halla en le
libro De Trinitate, por san Agustín. Alii, el santo describe ala Trinidad como Uno que ama (el Padre), Uno que
es amado (el Hijo) y Uno que es el amor (el Espíritu Santo). Y esos tres Unos suman Uno solo. Tal vez lo
mejor para nosotros sea dejar las dificultades técnicas de este misterio a los te6logos profesionales, y
enfocarnos en el hecho que las tres Personas de la Santísima Trinidad son precisamente personas; se les conoce
y se les comprende en su amor mutuo yen su amor hacia nosotros. Hemos sido creados a imagen y semejanza
de esas tres Personas amorosas, y nuestras mejores relaciones se viven en el contexto del amor. Las relaciones
verdaderamente amorosas son misterios inagotables que se expresan en una profunda felicidad. Y si esto es así
en nuestras relaciones humanas, Cuanto mas lo será: en nuestra relaci6n con la Santísima Trinidad! Y, cuanto
mas somos llamados a dar un testimonio alegre y amoroso de este sagrado misterio de los Tres que son Uno!
Este es el misterio que fuimos llamados a vivir cuando fuimos escogidos como hijos de Dios, bautizados en el
nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo.
