HEALTH POLICY GUIDELINES
COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
1.
Head Lice: Upon examination, if child is found to have head lice or nits, he/she will be excluded from school until proper
treatment has been completed and all nits are removed.
2.
Impetigo and Ringworm: Area is to be covered and under treatment if child is to remain in school.
3.
Pink Eye, Conjunctivitis: Itching, redness, and thick yellow discharge from one or both eyes. Child will be excluded until
eyes exhibit decreased infection and redness.
4.
Other Communicable Diseases: Child will be excluded until doctor releases child to return to school; i.e. rashes, blisters,
sores, etc.
RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS
1.
Green Pus like Nasal Discharge: Child will be excluded from school and will be asked to remain at home until discharge has
cleared up.
2.
Coughing: Coughing with “rattled” breathing from chest and chest congestion. Phlegm producing cough and/or bad nasal
congestion. Child will be excluded from school and will be asked to remain at home until free from cough.
ILLNESSES
1.
Fever: If child has a fever of over 100, child will be sent home for observation. Child is to remain home until fever free 24
hours before returning to school.
2.
Vomiting: If a child has emesis (vomiting) and appears ill, child will be sent home. Child is to remain home until emesis free
24 hours before returning to school.
3.
Diarrhea: If a child has had 2 loose stools or 1 watery stool, child will be sent home. Child is to remain home until diarrhea
free 24 hours before returning to school.
4.
Stomachaches, Headaches, Sore Throats: If child does not exhibit other symptoms, i.e. fever, etc., child should be kept at
home or be expected to remain in school for that day.
SEIZURES
If child has uncharacteristic or severe and/or successive seizures, child will be sent home for observation.
ANTIBIOTICS
1.
If a child is on antibiotic therapy and the doctor advised he/she is to remain home for a specific number of days, child must be
kept home until released to return to school. Doctor is to provide a written release.
2.
A child on special antibiotic therapy may attend school with a note of doctor’s recommendation.
Please notify the school nurse if your child is on antibiotic or other medication and let her know if there is something the staff
should know or watch for. Contact the school health assistant for appropriate paperwork if you desire medication to be given at
school. Parent MUST accompany child to school on return if sent home with a communicable disease. Child must be
cleared through Health Office before readmission to class can occur. If not cleared, child must return home with parent.

Piojos: Despues de la examinación, si se determina que un niño o una niñ tiene piojos o lindres, se le permitira a el o ella que
no venga a la escuela hasta que se haya completado el tratamiento propio y hasta que se le haya quitado todas las liendres.
Impetigo Y Tina: Se debe de cubrir la area infectada y estar bajo tratamientos se desea que el niño permanezca en la escuela.
Conjuntivitis Aguda, Conjuntivitis: Comezón, ojos rojos o pus de color amarillo de uno o de los dos ojos. El alumno no
podra venir a la escuela hasta que los ojos no tengan infección y no esten enrojecido.
Otras Enfermedades Contagiosas: El alumno no podra venir a la escuela hasta que el doctor indique que puede regresar a
clases.
PROBLEMAS RESPIRATORIOS

Pus Verde Como Constipacion Nasal: El alumno no podra venir a la escuela y se le requirira que permanezca en la casa
hasa que la constipacion haya cesado.
Tos: Tos con problemas de respiración a causa de congestion en el pecho. Flema la cual produce tos y/o constipacion nasal.
El alumno sera excluido de la escuela y le pediremos que se este en casa hasta que no tenga tos por 24 horas.

Fiebre: Si el alumno tiene fiebre de mas de 100 grados, se le permitira que el alumno se vaya a la casa para que lo observen.
El alumno debe permanecer en la casa sin temperatura o fiebre antes por 24 horas. de regresar a la escuela.
Vomito: Si el alumno tiene vomitos y parece que esta enfermo, se le permitira al alumno irse a la casa. El alumno debe
permanecer en la casa sin vomito por 24 horas antes de regresar a la escuela.
Diarrea: Si el alumno tiene deposiciones dos veces o uno vez con mas severidad, se la permitira que el alumno se vaya a la
casa. El alumno debe permanecer en la casa sin diarrea por 24 horas antes de regresar a la escuela.
Dolor de estomago, Dolor de cabeza, y Dolor de garganta: Si el estudiante no demuestra ningun otro sintoma por ejemplo
fiebre, etc. el estudiante debe de quedarse en casa o se espera que estudiante asista a la escuela todo el dia.
ATAQUES
Si el alumno tiene ataques raros ya sea de severidad y/o sucesivos, se le permitira al alumno irse a la casa. El alumno debe
permanecer en la casa por 24 horas y debe estar bajo observación.
ANTIBIOTICOS

Si el alumno esta bajo terapia con antibioticos y el doctor le ha recomendado que permanezca en la casa por un numero
especifico de dias, el alumno debe permanecer en la casa hasta que el doctor indique que pueder regresar a la escuela. El
doctor debe darle una nota indicando que lo ha dado de alta.
Si el alumno esta bajo el cuidado del doctor y esta tomando antibioticos, el o ella puede permanecer en la escuela siempre y
cuando mande una nota del doctor dando esta recomendación.
Favor de notificar a la enfermera de la escuela si su hijo/a esta tomando antibioticos una medicina nueva, tambien avisele si existe
una condicion o condiciones que la escuela debe saber sobre su hijo/a. Favor de comunicarse con la asistente de la enfermera para
obtener los papeles requeridos si desea que se le de la medicina en la escuela. El niño/a tiene que ser acompanado por el padre, si
fue enviado a casa con una enfermedad contagiosa. El niño/a debe de ir a la enfermera antes de ser admitido a clase. Si el niño/a
no es aprobado, el/ella necesita regresar a casa con el padre.
