When Life Was So Simple When life was simple Day by day Nothing to gain Only to play Barefoot to the water Swim to the raft Dive from the tower Easy to laugh Mom with the lunch basket Fresh squeezed lemonade Peanut butter, mayonnaise and onion All of it home made Sit in the rowboat Eat until gone Wait for the hour Lest cramps make us drown Life was so simple Nothing to gain Money not needed Very little pain Sad that it’s over Never to regain The days of our lives When life was so simple And play was the game -Laurence February 2007 Cuando la Vida Era Muy Fácil Cuando la vida era fácil, día con día. Nada que ganar, sólo hay que jugar Descalzos al agua, nadar a la balsa, saltar de la torre, reír fácilmente. Mamá con la canasta de comida, limonada recién exprimida, mantequilla de maní, mayonesa y cebollas, todo hecho en casa. Siéntate en el bote, come hasta acabar, espera una hora, para no acalambrarte, pues puedes ahogarte. La vida era muy fácil. Nada que ganar, no necesitas dinero, muy poco dolor.
