Give and it will be given unto you VII Tithing has been my practice since 1963, and even at times when it seemed impossible to give sacrificially, somehow I always was able to do it. You recall that as an Episcopal Minister I was married [again another story] but I recall sitting with my wife going over the budget at the beginning of our married life. She said to me, “it will be tight, but we will just make it.” I looked at her budget and realized that she had not included the tithe; the result was our first marital fight. “We can’t afford to give that much money” she said, and I agreed, but having done so for so many years I was committed. By then I knew the Malachi text and challenged her that if we were faithful in giving 10% to the Church that there would be enough to go around. She was skeptical, but agreed. A handful of years later she stood up on a Sunday and told that story and witnessed “I didn’t believe it would work, but it did.” We both still tithe to this day!! Again I am not trying to get you to give more money to IHM, but the principle is worth noting: to the generous person God pours out blessings. This is actually easy to prove, and this is one area where testing God is appropriate. “You cannot out give God!” It is the nature of His being to pour out his generous grace and love upon his children, and when we act like God by being generous, amazing things can happen. IHM Pray for us. Father Jerry Dad y se os Dara VII Donar ha sido mi costumbre desde el año 1963 y también a veces cuando me parecia imposible sacrificarme a donar, de alguna manera yo lo podia hacer. Ustedes recordarán que como un Ministro Episcopal yo estaba casado (de nuevo otra historia) pero me acuerdo que estando sentado con mi esposa revisando nuestro presupuesto al principio de nuestra vida matrimonial. Ella me dijo “será un poco apretado, pero lo podremos hacer.” Yo revise el presupuesto y me di cuenta que ella no habia incluido el diezmo; el resultado fué nuestra primera pelea matrimonial. “Nosotros no podremos dar tanto dinero,” ella dijo, y yo le di la razón, pero habiendo hecho eso por muchos años yo estaba comprometido. Para entonces sabia que el texto de Malaquias y yo le rete que si nosotros religiosamente dabamos el 10% a la Iglesia que habria suficiente para todos. Ella era escéptica pero estuvo de acuerdo. Unos cuantos años después, se levanto un Domingo en la Iglesia y conto esa historia que ella testifico. “Yo no crei que eso trabajaria, pero resulto.” Nosotros dos todavia donamos el diezmo hasta este dia!! De Nuevo yo no estoy tratando de que ustedes den más dinero a ICM pero el principio es bueno anotarlo: A la gente generosa Dios le manda muchas bendiciones. Esto es fácil de probar y esta es un área donde probando a Dios es apropiado. “Tú no puedes dar más que Dios! Es la natura de su Ser de desbordar su gracia generosa y el amor a sus hijos y cuando nosotros actuamos como Dios siendo generosos cosas maravillosas pueden pasar. ICM Ora por nosotros Padre Jerry
