Don’t Dig Up Trouble...
When spring arrives, so do those chores and
projects you’ve been thinking about all through the
winter. And if those tasks involve getting out the
shovel and digging, here’s some
down-to-earth advice: DON’T.
At least, not until you’ve made an
important phone call that could
keep you safe.
You may not realize it, but beneath your feet is a
vast network of pipelines, telecommunications and
electrical cables. And if you accidentally strike one
of them when you’re digging, you could interfere
with services that thousands of people depend
upon-and put yourself in danger as well.
Accidental damage to underground facilities doesn’t
have to happen. One phone call to the Texas OneCall System (“DIG TESS”) will ensure that
any underground pipes or cables in your
yard or wherever you’re digging will be
clearly marked within 48 hours of your request.
