Winter is almost over, and that means getting out
in the yard and tackling all of those projects and
chores that you’ve been putting off until the
weather gets better. But as tempting as it is to
take that shovel and get right to work, there’s an
important call you need to make before you dig.
It’s a call that could keep you safe.
Beneath your feet is a vast network of pipelines,
telecommunications and electrical cables. And if you
accidentally strike one of them while you’re digging, you
could interfere with services that thousands of people
depend upon - and put yourself in danger as well.
Accidental damage to underground facilities
doesn’t have to happen. One phone call to
the Texas One-Call System (“DIG TESS”) will
ensure that any underground pipes or
cables in your yard or wherever
you’re digging will be clearly
marked within 48 hours of your
request. And there’s no charge to you.
It’s easy to do. You can call 811 from
wherever you are and your call will be
routed to the appropriate system.
Or, in Texas, you can call DIG TESS
directly at 800-344-8377.

dollars to build and maintain a natural gas distribution
system that includes more than 14,000 miles of buried
pipeline. It’s there to serve you and ensure that you
