How to Know What’s Below
You can’t see them, but there are buried pipelines throughout Texas. Sometimes they are under the
street, sometimes running underneath your property, and sometimes they are located in a pipeline right
of way. A pipeline right of way is a strip of land over and around buried pipelines that allows them to
be permanently located on public and private land, in order to provide your natural gas service. Rights
of way are usually marked and should be kept clear of obstructions to enable Texas Gas Service to
safely operate, patrol, inspect, maintain and repair its pipelines.
What to Look For
To locate a right of way, look for distinctive yellow markers that identify
buried pipelines. If Texas Gas Service has an easement on your property,
you should be cautious when performing any kind of construction near a
high-pressure natural gas pipeline. It’s important that property owners not
install any structures, store anything that could be an obstruction or plant
trees or shrubs along rights of way. You should never dig or construct
anything in the area without first calling 1-800-700-2443 to advise them
of the location of your excavation project. You can also call 811 to be
connected with the appropriate notification system. Texas Gas Service
may then contact you regarding appropriate precautions when working
near the easement.
If you have a pipeline near your home:
• Don’t plant trees or tall shrubs on the right of way
• Don’t dig, build, store or place anything on or near the right of way
• Do remember to call before you dig (1-800-700-2443 or dial 811)

Cómo saber qué hay debajo

natural. Las canalizaciones de paso generalmente están identificadas y deben mantenerse sin obstrucciones para
permitir que Texas Gas Service opere, patrulle, inspeccione, mantenga y repare sus gasoductos en forma segura.
Qué hay que buscar
Para localizar una canalización de paso, busque los marcadores amarillos característicos
que identifican a los gasoductos enterrados. Si Texas Gas Service tiene una canalización
en su propiedad, usted debe tener mucho cuidado cuando realice cualquier tipo de
construcción cerca de una línea de alta presión de gas natural. Es importante que los
dueños de las propiedades no instalen ninguna estructura ni almacenen nada que
pudiera ser una obstrucción, o planten árboles o arbustos sobre la canalización de paso.
No debe nunca cavar o construir en el área sin antes llamar al 1-800-700-2443 para
dar información sobre la ubicación de su proyecto de excavación. También puede llamar
