A Moment of Meditation – April 11, 2016
A Student of the Planet
The earth is my teacher. When the snow melts at winter’s end, I learn to let go of
my desire to always be in control. As the seed springs from the soil, I learn to
appreciate every opportunity to live a resurrected life. On seeing the summer
fields’ crack from the heat, I learn that my wasteful misuse of the planet’s most
valuable resource leaves the whole world thirsty. As the fall leaves let go and cover
the ground to enrich it, I learn that a life well lived calls to me to make sacrifices.
The weeping rains teach me compassion and the soaring birds above the earth
teach me gratitude for my freedom to be part of it all.

Un Estudiante del Planeta
La tierra es mi maestro. Cuando la nieve se derrite a finales de invierno, aprendo a
dejar de lado mi deseo de estar siempre en control. A medida que de las semillas
nacen retoños del suelo, aprendo a apreciar cada oportunidad de vivir una vida
resucitada. Al ver los campos en el verano llenos de grietas por el calor, me doy
cuenta de que mi mal uso derrochador de los recursos más valiosos del planeta
deja todo el mundo sediento. Con las hojas del otoño que caen y enriquecen el
suelo, me doy cuenta de que una vida bien vivida implica hacer sacrificios. Las
lluvias torrenciales me enseñan la compasión y las aves que se elevan sobre la
tierra me enseñan a hacer agradecido por mi libertad de ser parte de todo esto.
