“PARENTS’ RIGHT TO KNOW”
The Washoe County School District is committed to following all guidelines as established
under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) and the No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), which includes a focus on instruction requiring teachers of core
academic subjects to meet criteria classifying them as highly qualified. The Every Student
Succeeds Act will go into effect during the 2017-18 school year.
You have the right to ask the following information:
 Whether your child’s teacher meets the State qualification and licensing criteria
for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.
 Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status
through which the State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
 The degrees and certification areas held by your child’s teacher.
 Whether paraprofessionals are used in the instruction of your child and the
qualifications of the paraprofessional.
The information regarding teacher’s qualifications in accordance with NCLB may be obtained
through your child’s school. You will also be notified in writing if your child has a teacher
who needs to become NCLB compliant. Please be assured that the Washoe County School
District is dedicated to providing the students of Washoe County with highly qualified
educators.

El Distrito Escolar del Condado de Washoe está comprometido a seguir todas las guías directivas

certificación del nivel apropiado del grado y el tema para la asignación(es) de
enseñanza.
 Si el maestro está enseñando bajo emergencia u otro estado provisional a través
del cual los criterios de la calificación de Estado o de concesión de licencias se ha
renunciado.
 Las licencias y certificados de las áreas sostenidos por el maestro de su hijo(a).
 Si el ayudante de un profesional está utilizado en la instrucción de su hijo(a) y las
calificaciones del ayudante de un profesional.
La información sobre las acreditaciones de maestros en conformidad con NCLB se puede
obtener a través de la escuela de su hijo(a). También se le notificará por escrito si su niño
tiene un maestro que tiene que llegar a cumplir la ley NCLB. Tenga la seguridad de que el
Distrito Escolar del Condado de Washoe se dedica a proporcionar a los estudiantes de
Washoe County con educadores altamente calificados. Por favor, no dude en ponerse en
