H: Hi Angie, Well Today's topic is environmental pollution. We call environmental pollution the
introduction into the environment of any type of physical, chemical and/or biological agent
that causes harmful changes in the environment. These changes have been affecting the
health, well-being or survival of biodiversity or in general. Let me add that the environment
affects all countries without exception.
A: Hi Hans! How was your week? Well, to give you an answer or just give you my point of view,
I would like to focus on, that all of the humans are inconsiderable because we are doing
somethings that cause this problem. People who deforest are murdered the live of the plants.
People who have companies and they just throw solid waste are contaminating.
H: Sorry to interrupt, but there are several causes that affect the environment. For example,
human activity is one of the main causes of environmental pollution. However, it has had a
significant negative impact on the environment. Sorry. What were you going to say?
A: Another point I want to make is; The death of the population was caused by the
contamination of them. For example, what happen when we throw wastes in the street? Well,
I remember a case in my city that in a one restaurant the costumers were eating and one of
them felt terrible and that was because the entire restaurant was infected by parasitic worms.
H: Well, another cause is the Technological development, it has been innovative and has made
important advances to improve the quality of life. The indiscriminate production and use of
plastic for various purposes, the excessive use of gasoline vehicles and the increase in the
production of non-biodegradable waste have been generating, for instance.
A: The advance of the technology has good points. It used to help the lives of the humans.
Especially in the case of pollution. Sorry, go ahead.
H: Nowadays, there are several campaigns that have been created in order to take care of the
environment, such as the campaigns to no longer give out bags in supermarkets to avoid
throwing them anywhere. This has been a well-arranged campaign in Peru because now they
charge for plastic bags
A: Yeah, that’s true. It’s a little complicated for people who use to take bags in the
supermarkets but it also helps. Let’s move on to the scient. A few weeks ago, scientists said the
life time left on earth and in that moment, most of the people were scare but now I think they
forgot.
H: For example, I remember years ago a sea turtle, who was captured by people who were
doing cleaning in the sea when they observed that a turtle had a drinking cane stuck in its
nose. That image spread through social networks which made the news and became world
news. That image was very hard for those who are animal lovers. That image had been very
shocking for me. It was a heart-breaking photo.
A: In other words, people just think about their actions when they are looking to any stronger
situation, how can we get a solution for this problem?
H: There are different ways to avoid environmental pollution depending on the time and place
where we are. It must be taken into account that, whether governments and large companies
and institutions play a fundamental role in this task, ordinary citizens can also influence
environmental pollution with their individual actions. Here are some ideas on how to avoid
and reduce environmental pollution:
What else can we do to prevent environmental pollution? Well, let's move on to organic
products. Organic products are all those good, well-made products that are produced
respecting the environment. That is, without introducing chemical elements in the products
themselves or in the environment where they are produced.
Reduce, reuse and recycle
A: Sorry Hans, what do you mean by Reduce, reuse and recycle?
Of course, another way to reduce and avoid environmental pollution is to implement the 3Rs
of ecology: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, both by governments and in schools, workplaces and
everyone in the home. The three aspects are pillars to control and reduce the pollution
problem in the world.

We refer both to avoiding pyrotechnics (which produces contamination of various types) is a
well-known recommendation, such as fires for barbecues or bonfires without complying with
the laws of the region, among others. Fires, even if they are well controlled, always cause
environmental pollution and, furthermore, if they get out of control, they are a great danger.
I see your point. For the end, I would like to add some actions that we can do for a healthier
planet. First, we can be a volunteer maybe in your city or in your community. With this we can
educate children’s, plant trees, and also conserve water.
