B. When is past continuous used?
The past continuous is used in the following cases:
1. To describe a past action over a period of time.

2. To describe what someone was doing at a specific point in time.

3. To describe an action in progress that was interrupted by other action in the
past. You should use the word where before the simple past.

4. When two actions are taking place at the same time in the past. You should
use the word while between the two actions.

C. Use of used to
The structure used to refers to habits, states or repeated actions that happened in
the past but no longer happens in the present.
