Anuncio
Here at Synology we specialize in Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. NAS
storage has been growing in popularity due to the increase rate of which we are digitizing our world.
With more and more of our lives, photos, music, movies, work documents, records, etc becoming
digital documents, we need a place to store it all. We also need to share it, manage it, and be able to
upload to and download from it, anywhere, anytime.
This is where Synology DiskStation’s come into play. Synology DiskStation’s come complete with
the most advanced UI found in a NAS called DiskStation Manager (or DSM for short). Using DSM,
your files are freed from typical storage limitations, and your DiskStation becomes your own private
cloud.
Redundant Protection
with Synology Hybrid RAID
RAID protects your files by creating redundant copies on one or more hard drives. That means, photos and files
remain intact, even if one of the hard drives breaks.
For those who are technologically-challenged, Synology Hybrid RAID provides a hassle-free RAID solution that
optimizes storage capacity and redundancy when using hard drives of differing sizes
Expandability
With Synology Hybrid RAID you can expand your storage by simply adding another drive, or replacing a
drive with a bigger one.
For users with our expandable models, you can expand your volume by purchasing an expansion unit.
Did you know that you get free DSM software updates?
Here at Synology, we specialize in user experience. Therefore we take comments and feedback from users like you
and implement the most requested in a software update. These DSM updates are free for all users, for all supported
models, and come out every few months. We often add enhancements, as well as introduce exciting new features.
So your DiskStation gets better and better, the longer you have it.

One Device, All Your Backups
Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS) provides a secure, reliable, and affordable backup solution for personal use and
businesses.
When it comes to your business or even a personal photo collection, nothing can be more daunting than the loss of years worth of
critical data. A Synology NAS provides downtime reduction through RAID or High Availability, and offers many ways to backup data
securely to and from the NAS either to local storage, through the LAN, over the WAN to another trusted site, and to numerous cloud
service providers..
Backup Options
A Synology NAS offers a range of ways to backup your files with different modes that best suit you, or your organization's needs.
With customizable and expandable storage space, Synology NAS is a perfect choice for backing up any device.
Local and Remote Backup Configurations For Your NAS Data
Whether data is being accessed locally or remotely, a Synology NAS offers numerous ways to share and collaborate with data.
Several Modes Available
Depending on your method of backup, different modes of backup will be available. Choose between scheduled or automatic
backups. Conserve bandwidth with incremental or differential backups. Or add the flexibility to change to historical versions of files
using file versioning.
Backup To Another NAS
Configuring a backup from a Synology NAS to another Synology NAS will give you the most options, including bi-directional sync
through Cloud Station. However, a Synology NAS can also perform a one-way scheduled backup, or one-way sync, to another
device running rsync.
Backup To A USB Disk
Most Synology NAS products include one or more USB 3.0 ports so you can attach an external disk directly to your NAS. Disks can
be rotated periodically to an off-site location for disaster recovery purposes.
Backup To Cloud
Synology's DiskStation Manager software, the core software provided with every Synology NAS, includes several cloud backup
service targets in the default Backup & Replication including Amazon S3 and Microsoft Azure. Other options are available through
free packages in Synology’s Package Center, such as Amazon Glacier.
Every Platform Supported
Synology provides first-party backup software called Cloud Station with features like bi-directional sync, file versioning, and
destination-side recycle bin. Cloud Station is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux and can function both inside the LAN, and
when you're outside the network where your DiskStation is connected, all without reconfiguring your network settings thanks to
Synology’s QuickConnect service.
However, if you're looking to use traditional backup methods built into your workstation’s operating system, or third-party backup
utilities, a Synology NAS can meet your needs too. DiskStation Manager (DSM) supports functioning as a Time Machine backup
target over AFP, File History in Windows over SMB, or rsync backups from Linux systems. Third-party software that can target
Windows/SMB network shares, AFP shares, or NFS locations can take advantage of a Synology NAS too. If you have a server
already configured for backups and just need more storage for it, simply use the NAS as iSCSI storage.
Easy To Manage With Comprehensive Tools
Whether you're working in a home office, or a bustling enterprise with an advanced IT team, keeping backups of company data is
critical to maintain business operations in the event of data loss.
Cloud Station
Synology makes backups automatic, secure, and simple through Cloud Station which is included for free with every Synology NAS.
Detailed logs are available as well to audit
Selective Sync
Handpick individual folders that you want to sync to different devices, manually or automatically based on file format and size. Sync
only small but critical files to your mobile devices, work-in-progress documents to a PC, and all the large sales and marketing
materials to DiskStations in branch offices.
File Versioning and Recycle Bin
Cloud Station retains up to 32 versions of file history by default, allowing you to restore a file back to a previous point in time or
recover documents that were accidentally deleted. If you regularly sync large, but less important multimedia files, simply set a lower
number of versions for individual shared folders to save storage space.
Windows ACL Support and Encryption
Specify detailed access rights and fine-tune read, write, and administration permissions to individual files using Windows ACL,
allowing you to choose what can and cannot be synced or overwritten.
Time Machine, File History, and rsync
For users who prefer native backup functions in their operating system, a Synology NAS delivers. Configuring Time Machine, File
History, or rsync is quick and easy both on the NAS itself and on your workstations.
Third-Party Software
Synology maintains a list of officially tested third-party backup software. However, nearly any software supporting network locations
will work as well. Just check with your software vendor.
Server Storage That Works
Today, a five-bay Synology NAS can accommodate as much as 40TB of raw storage using 8TB disks, or 120TB of data with two
five-bay expansion chassis attached. Meaning your organization can store over 12,000 DVD9 worth of content in one central
location.
Regardless of your server configuration, as an array of virtual machines, a single server system, or even another Synology NAS,
there are a variety of tools to help you manage backups for any need.
Cost-Effective, Reliable, Expandable, and Feature-Rich Backup
A Synology NAS does more than store data, it keeps important information safe and makes it easy to add more storage when
needed. With optional software packages and client software, a Synology NAS goes beyond mere read/write storage and provides
all the tools needed to recover quickly using a bullet-proof disaster recovery plan.
Snapshotting
The fastest and most efficient way to back up virtual machines hosted on Synology NAS is with snapshots. iSCSI LUN snapshots
can be scheduled to automatically run at preset times, letting you create a snapshot every day or every hour and restore your entire
system to any point in time with a few clicks. Snapshots are critical for recovery purposes, but they tend to consume a lot of space
over time on the primary data volume. With the retention policy settings, it's possible to precisely fine-tune a snapshot strategy and
smartly prune old snapshots to keep only the most relevant instances archived.
LUN Backup and Management
Hard disks are frequently partitioned into iSCSI LUNs for virtual machines to access, facilitating flexible management and
administration of the whole network's storage platform. You can back up files, operation systems, and applications stored on a LUN,
just like any DiskStation folder, locally or remotely, without additional costs or purchases.
Enterprise Reliability
High Availability provides organizations with the option to pair two identically configured Synology NAS devices in a mirrored pair.
Reducing downtime by directing services from a primary server experiencing problems to a healthy device.
Optional Advanced Warranty
For XS+ and XS series Synology NAS, purchase the Advanced Warranty for a priority phone line, no questions asked replacement
service, and automatic next-day shipping on replacement hardware.
Cloud Conscious
Cloud storage is playing an essential role in many backup strategies, allowing businesses to strengthen disaster resiliency and
reduce hardware footprint. Data on your Synology NAS can be directly backed up to public cloud services, such as Amazon S3,
Amazon Glacier, Microsoft Azure, SFR, and hicloud. Enjoy the benefits of cloud storage services with the automation and robust
features from Synology.
Android and iOS Backup, No Corners Cut
With tablets and phones playing an ever increasing role in business activities, it helps to have serious software and storage that
offers the same business features you expect on computers and servers. Synology brings the technology of Cloud Station to mobile
with the DS Cloud app, with all the control of the workstation client.
Backup That Makes Multiple Devices Part Of A Productivity Solution
When technology gets in the way more than it helps, this can feel immensely frustrating. Adding mobile devices presents the
challenge of making on-the-go data move seamlessly to team members and to other devices. Cloud services can alleviate this
problem, but services costs can make these options unfeasible for large data sets.
Cloud Station
In addition to syncing your Synology NAS products, workstations, and servers, the Cloud Station service brings your mobile devices
into the fold as well. As soon as you save a change, it automatically updates the copies on other connected devices. This allows you
to move between home and work, desktop and mobile, or from one branch office to the next, all while seamlessly working on the
same file
Cloud Sync
With Cloud Sync, you can seamlessly sync and share files among your Synology NAS and multiple public cloud services such as
Dropbox, Baidu Cloud, Google Drive, Box, OneDrive, hubiC, Amazon Cloud Drive, Megafon Megadisk, Amazon S3 compatible
cloud services (Amazon S3, HiCloud S3 and SFR Stockage) and Yandex.
No Cloud?
No Problem
If your device goes out of network range on a plane or while driving, synchronization will start again once a network path to the NAS
becomes available again. Many other Synology apps feature an offline mode so that content that is downloaded locally from the
NAS stays available with the rich software features you're familiar with.
CardDAV and CalDAV
Make it easy for employee mobile devices to synchronize important contact information and calendar data with your NAS. Host a
personal CalDAV server to synchronize calendars and tasks with your favorite CalDAV applications, such as iCal® on Mac OS®,
iPhone®, or iPad®. Centralize and synchronize contact information on your DiskStation and various CardDAV applications, such as
Apple iOS, Mac OS, Gmail, and others.
