FEBRUARY 13 – WEDDING AT CANA II We are inviting and asking you to spread the word to couples that the Second Wedding of Cana is taking place this February. They didn’t have to go into debt and spend thousands of dollars. We want to make the sacrament available to all. Please let your siblings, children, grandchildren, friends and co-workers know that it is possible for them to get married in Church without being stressed out. For more information, please contact the rectory and speak to one of the priests. Please call the rectory and ask for information. CHURCH DAMAGE AND REPAIRS Some people have asked about some of the stained glass windows that are boarded up. We had a hail storm in August that cracked many of the windows on the west side of the Church. There is over $60,000 worth of damage, most of which is covered by insurance. There are other repairs in the works. The east wall near the statue of Our Lady in the sanctuary has sustained heavy damage from rainstorms. It has taken a long time to figure out the source of this damage. Recently, the roofers found out that previous slate shingles that were installed years ago had been too small. Water was able to get through. We finally figured this out only after going into the attic during rain storms, ruling out all other possibilities and pulling up some of the shingles. On the surface, the shingles looked fine; only after removing some did we find the problem. Three new sets of doors on the south side of the Church (Main entrance) are being built and are scheduled to be installed in the Spring. Lastly, the kneelers in the latter section are being replaced. These are huge projects that need to be done. They cannot be put off any longer. Thanks for your support of the church collections. Pray that we can pay the bills. PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY The next meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is Saturday, November 21 at 2:30 at St. Mary Apartments. The members knit or crochet shawls that are given to persons who are ill or experiencing crisis. The group also prays for the recipients of these shawls. All are welcome.
