Bobcat Day on Saturday October 15th here at Texas state from 8am

Hello Upward Bound Parents and Students,
We hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the fall, even though this weather still needs to catch up 
A couple of announcements:
1. We have attached the power point, weekly afterschool curriculum, and our event schedule for the fall. All of this
information is also available on our website: http://www.sdi.txstate.edu/upwardbound/ Please make sure you
get us your updated phone numbers and email addresses so we can keep you informed of all Upward Bound
related events and updates.
2. We have also implemented One Call Now Texting. This is the system we use to send calls to you all. To make
sure you can get the texts, please text ALERT to 22300.
3. Also Parents/Guardians, if your student has an accommodation they need for school our outside the classroom
(504 modifications, or any other disabilities), please contact our office and let us know. We want to make sure
our students are afforded their every need, and that we assist them in navigating the process to accommodate
them as they prepare for graduation and college enrollment.
4. Seniors- by now you should have finished your college applications and should be ready to submit them on
Apply Texas. Please make sure this is done! Colleges across the state are reporting RECORD APPLICATION RATES.
Every day you wait is another chance you take. Please make sure you have the Upward Bound Staff review your
applications and essays before you submit, and don’t forget to send your transcripts, fee waivers and test
scores. We also have SAT/ACT fee waivers in so please contact the Upward Bound staff to get them so you can
register for the tests. ALSO, FAFSA opened on October 1st. Texas is a first come first serve state, meaning the
sooner you apply the better. Parents/Guardians please contact the Upward Bound Staff so we can start this
process.
5. I have attached our October Newsletter as well. We have links available in English and in Spanish. Please
take a look at all of the amazing things the students and staff are working on. Thanks to the Upward Bound team
for putting this together it looks great!

6. Also, please register for Bobcat Day on Saturday October 15th here at Texas state from 8am-3:00
pm. This is an event we would like both our Parents/Guardians and Students to attend. It is an
open campus day, a chance to visit with all colleges, explore all majors, tour the campus and find out valuable
information about Texas State University. Our goal is to use this event to serve as an example for you as you
search colleges to apply to. We want you to learn firsthand the kinds of information you should seek and
questions you should ask. Please RSVP by this Friday October 7th at noon. RSVP here:

Esperamos que haiga tenido un gran fin de semana y esté listo para el otoño 
Un par de anuncios:
1. En este email encontrara adjuntado el power point, el currículo semanal de después de escuela, y nuestro
programa de actividades para el otoño. Toda esta información también está disponible en nuestro sitio web:

teléfono y direcciones de correo electrónico actuales para que podamos mantenerle informado de todo los
eventos relacionados y actualizaciones de Upward Bound.
2. También hemos implementado el sistema de llamadas, ahora enviaremos mensajes de texto. Este es el sistema

3. También los padres/tutores, si el estudiante tiene un alojamiento en la escuela (504 modificaciones, o cualquier

que nuestros estudiantes disfrutan de cada una de sus necesidades, y que les ayudamos a navegar el proceso

4. Los estudiantes del doce- por ahora ustedes deben haber terminado sus aplicaciones de colegio y deberían
estar preparado para mostrarnos su Apply Texas. ¡Asegúrese de que esto este hecho! Los colegios de todo el
estado están reportando DEMACIADAS INCRICIONES. Cada día que ustedes esperan es otra oportunidad que
usted no toma. Por favor, asegúrate de que el Upward Bound personal revise sus aplicaciones y ensayos antes
de enviarlos, y no se olvides de enviar sus transcripciones, y los resultados de las pruebas. También tenemos
exenciones del SAT/ACT así que por favor póngase en contacto con el personal de Upward Bound para conseguir
así que usted puede registrarse para las pruebas. Asimismo, FAFSA inaugurado el 1 de octubre. Texas es un
primer llegado primer servido estado, es decir, cuanto antes se aplique mejor. Los padres/tutores, póngase en
contacto con el personal de Upward Bound para que podamos iniciar este proceso.
5. He adjuntado nuestro boletín de octubre. Tenemos vínculos disponibles en inglés y en español. Por favor,
eche un vistazo a todas las increíbles cosas que los estudiantes y el personal está trabajando. ¡Gracias a el

También, por favor, regístrese para el Día Bobcat el sábado 15 de octubre aquí en Texas State
desde las 8am-3:00pm. Este es un evento que nos gustaría tanto nuestros
padres/tutores y alumnos que asistan. Es un día abierto, una oportunidad de conversar con todo el
colegio, explorar todas las carreras, recorrido por el campus y averiguar información valiosa acerca de la
