USA’s Dicello and Van Zwieten win the women’s Gold at Tavares
TAVARES, Florida, USA, September 13, 2015. - Kimberly Dicello and Kendra Van Zwieten of United
States-A team won the women’s Gold at the 5th stop of the NORCECA BVB 2015 Tour at the
Hickory Point Beach Sand Volleyball Complex in Tavares, Florida.
The number one seeded team of the tournament, Kimberly Dicello and Kendra Van Zwieten had to
work hard to defeat Delaney Knudsen and Katie Spieler of USA-B in overtime 2-1 (21-17, 22-24,
15-10). This is Dicello’s first gold of the season and Van Zwieten’s second.
In the first and third sets, Kimberly and Kendra had more control of the actions with great defense
from Kendra and Kimberly’s calculated shots over the net, taking a comfortable lead from the
begining. Delaney and Katie managed more control in the second set keeping the score neck to
neck.
Dicello and Van Zwieten arrived into the gold medal match prevailing in semifinals over Megan
Nagy/ Marie Lapointe of Canada-B 2-0 (21-14, 21-10), while Knudsen and Spieler outdueld the
Costa Rica’s duo of Karen Cope/Natalia Alfaro 2-0 (22-20, 21-13)
Kimberly Dicello said “it’s awesome to put our countries name at the highest level with two USA
teams in the finals. Kendra did a great job to pull out the win.”
Kendra Van Zwieten said “it was a challenging tournament with the weather conditions, all the
players kept a great attitude and with good spirit. In the final match, the other USA team made us
work for the win”.
In the Bronze medal match, Karen Cope and Natalia Alfaro of Costa Rica-A, beat Megan Nagy and
Marie Lapointe of Canada-B 2-0 (21-16, 21-19). This is the Central American team second bronze
of the season.

Dicello y Van Zwieten de EUA-A ganaron el oro femenil en Tavares
TAVARES, Florida, Estados Unidos, 13 de septiembre de 2015.- Kimberly Dicello y Kendra Van
Zwieten de Estados Unidos-A ganaron la medalla de Oro de la quinta parada del Tour NORCECA
2015 de Voleibol de Playa en el Complejo de Voleibol de Arena Hickory Point Beach de Tavares,
Florida.
La siembra número uno del torneo, Kimberly Dicello y Kendra Van Zwieten tuvieron que luchar
para derrotar al equipo B de Estados Unidos de Delaney Knudsen y Katie Spieler en tres sets 2-1
(21-17, 22-24, 15-10). Esta es la primera medalla de oro de Dicello en la temporada y la segunda
para Van Zwieten.
El primer y tercer sets fueron controlados por Kimberly y Kendra, gracias a la defense de Kendra y
los ataques calculados de Kimberly, lo que les sirvió para tomar una cómoda ventaja desde el
inicio. Delaney y Katie supieron dominar el segundo set tras mantener el marcador siempre
apretado.
Dicello y Van Zwieten alcanzaron la final al imponerse sobre Megan Nagy/ Marie Lapointe de
Canadá-B en la semifinal por 2-0 (21-14, 21-10), mientras que Knudsen y Spieler vencieron a la
dupla de Karen Cope/Natalia Alfaro de Costa Rica por 2-0 (22-20, 21-13)
Kimberly Dicello dijo “es increíble poner el nombre de nuestro país en alto en un nivel tan
prestigioso con dos equipos de EUA en la final. Kendra hizo un trabajo estupendo para que
lográramos el triunfo”.
Kendra Van Zwieten dijo “las condiciones climáticas fueron un reto para el torneo, todos los
jugadores tuvieron una excelente actitud y buen espíritu. En el juego de la final, el otro equipo de
EUA nos hizo trabajar para ganar”.
En el juego por la medalla de Bronce, Karen Cope y Natalia Alfaro de Costa Rica-A, vencieron a
Megan Nagy y Marie Lapointe de Canadá-B por 2-0 (21-16, 21-19). Esta es la segunda medalla de
bronce de la temporada para el equipo centroamericano.
