JAMAICA 2016
Well it’s hard to believe that Jamaica 2016 is just around a corner; Sat.,
Oct. 1st. There is so much that still needs to be done to prepare for this
beautiful festive day. We are still need of donations such as: Water, Sodas, Etc.
Bring items to the office until Friday, Sept. 30th or you may bring them
on the morning of the Jamaica. There will be a drop off location for donations on the day of the Jamaica located at entrance off Herndon Street.

PARKING:
Great News: San Juan Diego High School has begun the first phase of the
construction of their new facilities with a target date of completion in the
Fall of 2017. With this in mind, the open area that was used for parking
is no longer available for use during the Jamaica. We have been working
with the City of Austin to come up with a plan that will accommodate our
neighbors, the parish and the city’s concerns. Unfortunately parking on
the premises will be very limited and will only be available as first come,
first serve. In addition certain streets around the parish will be blocked
off to traffic and only residents living in those areas and have a parking
permit will have access. We are asking that before leaving the Jamaica
that you dispose any trash in the receptacles at the exits. Our neighbors
have expressed concern to me about trash being left on the neighborhood streets after having our event. I’m asking that everyone try to be
good stewards by keeping the grounds clean including the neighborhood
streets.
This is new to all of us and I’m aware and understand the challenges we face with having our annual Jamaica this year and for the future.
However I’m asking for all of us to work together and try to be patient
and accommodating especially under these circumstances. I believe our
Jamaica will be successful as long as we strive to work together now and
in the future.

RAFFLE TICKETS:
Please be sure to pick up your Raffle Tickets to purchase and/or Sell.
Because of the limited access to parking, the Jamaica Committee is asking if all possible to please turn in the Raffle Tickets and money by Friday, September 30, 2016. You may turn in tickets and money on the day
of the Jamaica but please note there will be no place to park, not even
temporary. Police will be on duty to monitor the situation and any unauthorized parking of vehicles is subject to being towed. Again, please try
to turn in tickets and money by Friday, Sept. 30, 2016. Beginning Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 Raffle Ticket stubs and money may be turned at the
following place and times:

BLESSING OF ANIMALS:
It is tradition to have animals blessed on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
(Oct. 4th). We will have the blessing of animals at our parish on Sunday,
Oct. 2nd at 3:30 p.m. in front of the Main Church. Please bring your pet if
you would like to have them blessed. Please be sure to have your pet on a
leash or in a cage for their safety and for the safety of their human friends.

COMMUNION SERVICE:
Fr. Red Blevins and I will be attending the Annual Priest Convocation
and will be out of the office from Oct. 3 through Oct. 6th. We will have
a Communion Service on Monday, Oct. 3 through Wednesday, Oct. 5th.

Bueno es difícil de creer que la Jamaica 2016 está a la vuelta de la esquina; Sábado 1ero de octubre. Hay mucho que queda por hacer para preparar
este hermoso día festivo. Todavía estamos en necesitando de donaciones tales
como: Agua, Refrescos, Etc.
Favor de traer artículos a la oficina hasta el viernes 30 de septiembre o puede traerlos en la mañana de la Jamaica. Habrá una ubicación para dejar las
donaciones en el día de la Jamaica que será en entrada por la calle Herndon.

ESTACIONAMIENTO:
Gran noticia: La preparatoria San Juan Diego ha comenzado la primera fase
de la construcción de sus nuevas instalaciones con una fecha de finalización
en el otoño de 2017. Con esto en mente, el área abierta que se utilizó para el
estacionamiento ya no está disponible para su uso durante la Jamaica. Hemos
estado trabajando con la ciudad de Austin, para elaborar un plan que se acomode a nuestros vecinos, a la parroquia y las preocupaciones de la ciudad.
Lamentablemente el estacionamiento en las instalaciones de San José es muy
limitadas y sólo disponible para el que llegue primero. Además algunas calles
alrededor de la parroquia serán bloqueadas al tráfico y sólo los residentes
que viven en esas zonas y los que tengan permiso tendrán acceso. Pedimos
que antes de salir de la Jamaica, deseche cualquier basura en los recipientes
en las salidas. Nuestros vecinos me han expresado su preocupación sobre la
basura que queda en las calles del vecindario después de nuestro evento. Pido
que todos intentan ser buenos administradores, manteniendo el jardín limpio
incluyendo las calles del vecindario.
Esto es nuevo para todos nosotros y soy consciente y entiendo los desafíos
que enfrentamos con tener nuestra Jamaica anual este año y para el futuro. Sin
embargo pido que todos trabajemos juntos en tratar de ser paciente y servicial especialmente bajo estas circunstancias. Creo que nuestra Jamaica tendrá
éxito siempre y cuando nos esforzamos en trabajar juntos ahora y en el futuro.

BOLETOS DE RIFA:
Favor de asegurarse el levantar sus boletos para comprar y/o vender.
Debido al acceso limitado de estacionamiento, el Comité de Jamaica está pidiendo si es posible entregar los boletos de la rifa y el dinero antes del viernes, 30
de septiembre de 2016. Puede entregar los boletos y dinero en el día de la Jamaica pero tengan en cuenta que no habrá ningún lugar de estacionamiento, ni
estacionamiento temporal. Policías estarán vigilando la situación y cualquier
estacionamiento no autorizado de los vehículos estará sujeto a ser remolcado.

wanted: toy donations for the Jamaica games.
Requesting gently used or new stuffed animals,
(lg, med, or sm.) And beanie babies. Any gently
used or new toys for game prizes would be appreciated. We could also use money donations to
purchase the game prizes that the game booths
are short of. All donations may be dropped off at
the church office Monday through Friday from

Infertility & Miscarriage Support: Sarah’s Hope & Abraham’s Promise
is a spiritual support program for couples struggling with infertility and
miscarriage. Based on Catholic teaching, we combine the wisdom of
modern medicine with the healing power of the Catholic Church. We
offer a women’s Bible study support group, couples healing retreats and
prayer services throughout the year.
Adoption Support: Destined: Families Built by Love is a spiritual support program and monthly playgroup for adoptive families. Anyone who
has built their family through the miracle of adoption is invited to meet
with other families to share the joys and challenges of adoption and
fostering. The playgroup meets once a month in different areas of Austin.
