On Wednesday, April 20 Prince of Peace School will hold its second annual
Reading Under the Stars Family Night Event. This event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at
our 22nd Street Campus.
Dinner will be served from 5:30—6:00. Starting at 6:00 p.m., families will be
treated to many fun activities! Every student will receive a free book!
Know Your Kids’ School

Ensuring Your Child’s School Is Safe

Every teacher, coach, and volunteer who works with children in the Archdiocese of
Milwaukee’s parishes and schools must have a background check before he or
she is permitted to work in any school- or parish-related job or activity that involves contact with children. But what about the children who attend nonCatholic private or public schools? Talk with school administrators and find out
what steps they take to protect children from harm. Suggest that they review
other abuse prevention programs to ensure that their policies and practices are
up to date. And demand that all employees and volunteers who work in the
school be properly screened, including background checks, before they are allowed to be near your children.

Announcements

Recess Time: The parking lot at our 25th Street campus is closed during the school day. Please use the
parking lot on 24th Street or park on the street. We need to keep the parking lot free of cars entering
and exiting to keep our children safe during recess times.

Parking: Please watch the signs. Do not park in No Parking areas for any length of time. Remember that
vehicles must not be parked in front of fire hydrants for any length of time. Cars parked in these areas
may be ticketed.

Traffic Safety: Please follow the traffic patterns when dropping off and picking up your child. Watch for
children in the parking lots!

Recess & Before School: All students enjoy recess time every day. It is important that your child is
dressed appropriately for the weather so recess is an enjoyable time. Students will be outside in the
morning before school starts and for recess when the temperature and wind chill is above zero degrees. Please check the weather report every day to ensure that your child is prepared to be outside
before school and during recess.
Keeping Your Child’s Personal Information Personal
If your children give out personal information over the Internet, not only is it easy to track, it’s tough to
completely remove. Emphasize to them how important it is that they keep personal information private.
Make sure that they have a strong (ideally, alphanumeric) username and password that don’t reveal anything personal. Encourage them not to give out their e-mail address, if they have one. If your children tell
you that they have given out personal information online, contact your Internet service provider or the site
where the information is posted to see what you can do to have it removed. For more information, visit

Parents and Guardians: Get Involved
Parents and guardians play a key role in the success of parish programs for young people. Parents and
guardians who are involved in parish programs and events will be in the best position to protect their own
children as well as all the children in the parish community. Involvement and communication are important
factors in helping to ensure safe environments for all of our children.
Be Vigilant
It is vitally important that we are constantly vigilant—that we always observe the behaviors of those who
interact with children. And we must always communicate our concerns to the appropriate parties. Sometimes this means communicating our safety concerns to our children. And sometimes this means communicating our concerns about seemingly inappropriate behavior to those who are in a position to intervene.
Parents must also listen carefully to their children and observe both their children’s activities and the behavior of older children and adults who interact with them. When children exhibit dramatic behavioral changes,
adults must find out what caused the changes. Being aware of what’s happening with our children means
talking to, listening to, and observing them—at every opportunity.

¡Evento Noche en Familia “Lectura Bajo las Estrellas”!
El miércoles, 20 de abril la Escuela Príncipe de Paz celebrará “Noche en Familia” en su segundo evento anual “Lectura Bajo Las Estrellas” Este evento
iniciara a las 5:30 pm en nuestro plantel de la calle 22.
La cena se servirá de 5: 30 a 6: 00pm. !Comenzando a las 6:00 pm las familias podrán disfrutar de muchas actividades divertidas! ¡Cada estudiante
recibirá un libro gratis!
Para poder calcular la cantidad de alimentos que debemos preparar, por
favor llenar y regresar la forma de “Noche en Familia” a la oficina de la escuela.
Los estudiantes y sus familias de los grados K4-8 están invitados a participar. ¡Esperamos verlos ahí!

Conozca la Escuela de Sus Niños
Los padres y tutores tienen la responsabilidad primordial de proteger a sus
hijos de todo daño. Al elegir una guardería, jardín de infancia o escuela, los
padres deben inspeccionar el edificio y los terrenos para asegurarse de que
no hay áreas de juego o de trabajo que son "prohibidas" para los padres.
Este tipo de instalaciones deben tener una política de bienvenida para los

Tiempo del Recreo; El estacionamiento en nuestro plantel de la calle 25 está cerrado durante el horario
escolar. Por favor use el estacionamiento de la calle 24 o estacionarse en la calle. Tenemos que mantener el estacionamiento libre de autos que entran y salen para mantener a nuestros niños seguros durante el tiempo de recreo.
Estacionamiento: Por favor vea las señales. No se estacione en áreas prohibidas. Recuerde que los vehículos no pueden ser estacionados delante de las tomas de agua para incendios en ningún momento.
Todo auto estacionado en estas áreas será multado.
Seguridad del Trafico: Por favor siga los patrones de tráfico al dejar y recoger a su hijo (s). !Tenga cuidado con los niños en el estacionamiento!
Recreo y antes de clases: Los estudiantes disfrutan de la hora del recreo todos los días. Es importante
que su hijo este vestido apropiadamente para el clima, así el recreo será un tiempo agradable. Los estudiantes se formaran afuera en la mañana antes de comenzar las clases y durante el recreo cuando la

Padres y Tutores: Involucrarse

proteger a sus propios hijos, así como todos los niños de la comunidad parroquial. La participación y la comunicación son factores importantes para ayudar asegurar un ambiente sano para todos nuestros niños.
Estar Atentos
Es de vital importancia que estemos atentos constantemente, siempre observar el comportamiento de
aquellos que interactúan con los niños. Siempre comunicar nuestras preocupaciones a las partes pertinentes. A veces esto significa comunicar nuestras preocupaciones sobre la seguridad a nuestros hijos, y en ocasiones comunicar nuestras preocupaciones sobre un comportamiento aparentemente inapropiado a todos
aquellos que están en condiciones de intervenir. Los padres también deben escuchar con atención a sus
hijos y observar tanto las actividades de sus hijos y el comportamiento de los niños mayores y adultos que
interactúan con ellos. Cuando los niños exhiben cambios drásticos de comportamiento, los adultos deben
buscar la causa de los cambios. Ser conscientes de lo que está pasando con nuestros hijos significa hablar,
escuchar y observarlos a ellos en cada oportunidad.
