Melgoza Visitor Blanca Baltazar Visitor David Frankiewich Adela Ayala Catalina Romero Visitor Enriqueta Camacho Visitor Dr. Shelly Long Visitor Mariana Gonzalez Visitor Guest/Administrator Superintendent Meeting called to order: 8:30 AM Old Business: Approval of Minutes from Previous ELAC Meeting: 01/30/2014. Motion- Ramona Macedo Second- Margarita Garcia New Business: 1. Welcome and introductions 2. Public Comments 3. Purpose of Meeting: J. Meredith presented information on the LCAP in a power point presentation. J. Alvear translated. Presented the SUESD timeline of actions to meet requirements. Introduce the legislation, Title 5, Div. 1, Ch. 14. A copy in Spanish will be available in the CBET classroom. To simplify the plan idea, it was presented as having 3 parts (categories) which were illustrated as 3 colored buckets. The red bucket was Conditions of Learning (Priorities 1, 2, 7), the blue bucket Pupil Outcomes (Priorities 4, 8), and the green bucket Engagement (Priorities 3, 5, 6). In these buckets were the 8 State priorities. The group then discussed each category and provided input based upon these guiding questions. Conditions of Learning: Is there anything your student doesn’t have enough of? How can we make it easier for you to understand Common Core? What other types of classes would you like to see offered? Pupil Outcomes: How can we help your student progress in school? Engagement: How can we become better partners in education? What can we do to make you feel more comfortable and want to get involved in school activities? 4. Action Item: Make recommendations to the Superintendent. Public Comment: 3 minutes each Adjournment: 9:40 AM Next Meeting: No scheduled meetings for the ELAC/DELAC. However, Stakeholder may participate in the LCAP/LCFF Public Forum scheduled for April 8, 2014 The Purpose of the SUESD ELAC/DELAC The purpose of the English Learner Advisory Committee is to provide a forum for parents to give advice to the SUESD Superintendent and the district governing Board concerning district programs for English Learners (ELs). Meredith presentó información sobre la LCAP, en una presentación en PowerPoint. J. Alvear traducido. Presentado el calendario SUESD de acciones para cumplir con los requisitos. Dar a conocer la legislación, Título 5, div. 1, cap. 14. Una copia en español estará disponible en el salón de clases CBET. Para simplificar la idea del plan, que se presentó como tener 3 partes (categorías) que se ilustran como 3 cubos de colores. El cubo de color rojo era Condiciones de Aprendizaje (prioridades 1, 2, 7), el azul cubo Estudiantiles Resultados (Prioridades 4, 8), y el cubo verde Enfrentamiento (Prioridades 3, 5, 6). En estos cubos eran las 8 prioridades del Estado. Luego el grupo discutió cada categoría y proporcionó información sobre la base de las siguientes preguntas orientadoras. Condiciones de aprendizaje: ¿Hay algo de su estudiante no tiene suficiente? ¿Cómo podemos hacer que sea más fácil para que usted entienda Common Core? ¿Qué otros tipos de clases le gustaría ver que ofrece? Alumno Resultados: ¿Cómo podemos ayudar a su progreso de los estudiantes en la escuela? Compromiso: ¿Cómo podemos ser mejores socios en la educación? ¿Qué podemos hacer para que se sienta más cómodo y quiere involucrarse en las actividades escolares? 4. Acción: Hacer recomendaciones al Superintendente. Comentarios del público: 3 minutos cada uno Aplazamiento: 9:40 AM Siguiente reuniones: reuniones No programadas para ELAC / DELAC. Sin embargo, las partes interesadas podrán participar en el Foro Público de la LCAP / LCFF prevista para 8 de abril 2014.
