If you wish to enter a plea of “NOT GUILTY” and desire a trial, please indicate in the proper place provided below. If you enter a plea of “NOT GUILTY”, may be necessary to post an appearance bond for charge(s) filed against you, except for speeding for Texas residents, as set by the Court. Please contact the Court for the amount and type of bond acceptable. Mail the bond with the plea form provided in this letter along with the citation to the Court no later than the appearance date shown on the citation. You shall be notified by return mail of the Court date set for the hearing. If you wish to enter a plea of “GUILTY” or “NOLO CONTENDERE”, please so indicate below in the proper space provided. A plea of NOLO CONTENDERE means that you do not contest the charge(s) against you. The fine for NOLO CONTENDERE plea is the same as that for a plea of GUILTY. Either plea indicates that you agree to waive appearance before the Court for trial. Payment options are listed on the fee schedule also found on the City of Yoakum Municipal Court Webpage. If you fail to respond to the charge(s) by the appearance date shown on the citation, an additional charge may be filed for “FAILURE TO APPEAR” and a warrant will be issued for your arrest. The minimum fine for FAILURE TO APPEAR is $100.00 and a warrant fee of $50.00 plus court costs. If you fail to appear in court for the prosecution of the offense or if you fail to pay or satisfy a judgment ordering the payment of a fine and cost in the manner ordered by the court, you will be denied renewal of your driver license, through TXDPS. In addition, there will be a $30 processing fee added to the total cost of charge(s). Certain traffic violations may be dismissed by successfully completing an approved Driving Safety Course. A plea of “GUILTY” or “NOLO CONTENDERE” must be entered and a written or oral (in person) request filed with the Court on or before the appearance date noted on the citation. Court Costs and a $10.00 Administrative Fee (non‐refundable) must be paid before permission can be granted to take a Driving Safety Course.
