Francisco J. Roig, PhD (University of Valencia 2011) Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Microbiology and Ecology (University of Valencia). His research has focused on the virulence of the zoonotic pathogen Vibrio vulnificus, starting from classical microbiology and then directing his efforts towards the molecular basis of this virulence. At Carmen Amaro’s lab, he is trying to clarify questions about the origin, evolution, and virulence of this species by means of genomics approaches. Some of these questions are: 1. What are the virulence factors of the species? 2. What is the origin of the species and its different genomic variants (genogroups)? 3. What are the differences among genogroups/pathovars inside the species? FUNDACIÓN PARA EL FOMENTO DE LA INVESTIGACIÓN SANITARIA Y BIOMÉDICA DE LA COMUNIDAD VALENCIANA.
