Those patients enduring from vascular ulcers they become chronic suffers due to its
healing difficulty. In addition, ulcers might also lead to dependency and suffering, thus,
damaging life quality. Currently, the treatments used for healing them are not very
effective, especially in short-term; hence, it is becoming popular the usage of the Negative
Pressure Therapy (NPT), aiming to enhance the curing of the wounds. By using the NPT,
which consists on applying controlled negative pressures, the healing of ulcers in a wet
and isolated environment might be achieved. Therefore, distinct clinic essays have been
carried out comparing the current therapy with common ones, portraying the benefits the
innovative treatment may have. It is owing to that, it is needed the results of the
researches related to the NPT to be analyzed in order to discuss its advantages, in terms of
both the clinical level and economic cost, so that a nursery acting guide, which would help
to introduce the NPT in hospital centers, could be elaborated.

Los pacientes que padecen úlceras vasculares, se convierten en crónicos, ya que éstas son
de muy difícil curación y crean gran dependencia y sufrimiento, empeorando así la calidad
de vida. Actualmente, los tratamientos que se utilizan para estas heridas no son muy
eficaces, especialmente a corto plazo. Cada vez se está planteando más la utilización de la
Terapia de Presión Negativa (TPN) con el objetivo de mejorar la cicatrización de dichas
úlceras. Con ella se consigue favorecer la cicatrización en un entorno húmedo y aislado,
aplicando presiones negativas controladas. Se han llevado a cabo diferentes ensayos
clínicos comparando esta terapia con las habituales, mostrando los beneficios que este
tratamiento innovador podría traer. Es por esto necesario analizar los resultados de los
estudios, tanto las ventajas a nivel clínico como también a nivel del coste económico y así
elaborar una guía de actuación de enfermería que ayude a impartir la TPN en los centros
hospitalarios.
