August 2015. Provisional data
5,184 mercantile companies are created in August, 1.4% more than
in the same month of 2014, and 1,187 are dissolved, 5.5% more
The Autonomous Communities with the greatest business
dynamism1 are Aragón (31.7%), Extremadura (25.0%) and CastillaLa Mancha (18.7%)
5,184 mercantile companies were created in August, that is, 1.4% more than in the same
month of 2014. The capital subscribed for their constitution exceeded 299 million euros,
representing an increase of 12.9%. The average capital subscribed (57,797 euros) increased
11.3% in its annual rate.
On the other hand, 2,115 mercantile companies increased their capital in August, 7.0% more
than in the same month of 2014. The capital subscribed in the increases registered an
increase of 72.5% and exceeded 1,774 million euros. The average capital subscribed in
these transactions (838,999 euros) increased 61.2% in its annual rate.
The number of companies dissolved in August was 1,187, that is, 5.5% more than in the
same month of 2014. Among these, 71.1% did so voluntarily, 8.2% due to mergers and the
remaining 20.7 % for other reasons.

Performance of the monthly rate
In order to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following chart shows
the variation in the number of mercantile companies created and dissolved between July and
August in the last five years. In 2015, the monthly variation of the number of companies
created was ‒35.8% and that of the companies dissolved was ‒17.1%.

Results by main economic activity
21.2% of the mercantile companies created in the month of August corresponded to Trade
and 16.9% to Construction. Regarding the dissolved companies, 20.5% corresponded to
Trade and 19.7% to Construction.

The activity with the greatest net balance of mercantile companies created in August 2015
was Trade, with 851 new companies.
On the contrary, Administrative and support service activities registered the lowest net
balance, with 119 companies created.

The economic activity with the greatest capital subscribed of the mercantile companies
created was Real estate, financial and insurance activities, with 157.07 million euros.
In turn, Administrative and support service activities presented the lowest capital subscribed,
with 1.84 million euros.

Results by Autonomous Communities
The Autonomous Communities with the greatest number of mercantile companies created in
August were Cataluña (1,154), Comunidad de Madrid (945), and Andalucía (838).
Conversely, the Autonomous Communities where less mercantile companies were created
were La Rioja (32), Comunidad Foral de Navarra (41), and Cantabria (42).
Regarding the dissolved mercantile companies, the Autonomous Communities that
presented the highest number of dissolutions were Comunidad de Madrid (306), Andalucía
(172) and Cataluña (153).
In turn, those with the lowest number of dissolutions were Comunidad Foral de Navarra (3)
and Región de Murcia (5).

In terms of annual variation of the number of mercantile companies created, Aragón (31.7%),
Extremadura (25.0%) and Castilla-La Mancha (18.7%) recorded the highest rates.
In turn, Castilla y León (–29.6%), Región de Murcia (–25.2%) and Cantabria (–19.2%)
registered the greatest decreases.
Regarding the mercantile companies dissolved, La Rioja (87.5%), País Vasco (55.8%) and
Cantabria (42.9%) were the Autonomous Communities to register the highest positive rates.
In turn, the Autonomous Communities registering the lowest annual rates were Región de
Murcia (–82.8%), Comunidad Foral de Navarra (–25.0%) and Galicia (–13.6%).
