April 2016. Provisional data
9,512 mercantile companies were created in April, 14.8% more than
in the same month of 2015, and 1,533 were dissolved, 6.5% more
than in April 2015
The Autonomous Communities with the greatest business
dynamism 1 are La Rioja (50.0%), Principado de Asturias (43.2%) and
Aragón (37.5%)
9,512 mercantile companies were created in April, that is, 14.8% more than in the same
month of 2015. The capital subscribed for their constitution exceeded 401 million euros,
representing an increase of 21.5%. The average capital subscribed (42,245 euros) increased
5.9% in its annual rate.
On the other hand, 2,679 mercantile companies increased their capital in April, 7.9% more
than in the same month of 2015. The capital subscribed in the increases registered a
decrease of 1.9% and exceeded 2,806 million euros. The average capital subscribed in
these transactions (1,047,552 euros) decreased 91.1% in its annual rate.
The number of companies dissolved in April was 1,533, that is, 6.5% more than in the same
month of 2015. Among these, 71.5% did so voluntarily, 8.3% due to mergers and the
remaining 20.2% for other reasons.

Performance of the monthly rate
In order to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of the data, the following chart shows
the variation in the number of mercantile companies created and dissolved between March
and April in the last five years. In 2016, the monthly variation of the number of companies
created was -3.3% and that of the companies dissolved was -13.4%.

Results by main economic activity
22.2% of the mercantile companies created in the month of April corresponded to Trade and
16.0% to Construction. Regarding the dissolved companies, 20.3% corresponded to Trade
and 19.5% to Construction.

The activity with the greatest net balance of mercantile companies created in April 2016 was
Trade, with 1,806 new companies.
On the contrary, Agriculture and fishing registered the lowest net balance, with 252
companies created.

created was Real estate, financial and insurance activities, with 127.90 million euros.
In turn, Other services presented the lowest capital subscribed, with 7.32 million euros.

Results by Autonomous Communities
The Autonomous Communities with the greatest number of mercantile companies created in
April were Comunidad de Madrid (1,906), Cataluña (1,888), and Andalucía (1,564).
Conversely, the Autonomous Communities where less mercantile companies were created
were La Rioja (48), Comunidad Foral de Navarra (87), and Cantabria (92).
Regarding the dissolved mercantile companies, the Autonomous Communities that
presented the highest number of dissolutions were Comunidad de Madrid (387), Andalucía
(233) and Cataluña (165).
In turn, those with the lowest number of dissolutions were La Rioja (8), Región de Murcia
(10), Comunidad Foral de Navarra and Cantabria (both with 19).

In terms of annual variation of the number of mercantile companies created, La Rioja
(50.0%), Principado de Asturias (43.2%) and Aragón (37.5%) recorded the highest rates.
In turn, Comunitat Valenciana (1.5%), Comunidad de Madrid (5.5%) and Región de Murcia
(5.7%) registered the greatest decreases.
Regarding the mercantile companies dissolved, Comunidad Foral de Navarra (137.5%),
Cantabria (72.7%) and Comunitat Valenciana (51.0%) were the Autonomous Communities
that registered the highest positive rates.
In turn, the Autonomous Communities registering the lowest annual rates were La Rioja (–
50.0%), Región de Murcia (–41.2%) and Castilla–La Mancha (–17.6%).
