Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG), the residue left over from cooking meats
such as bacon that hardens after it cools, can cause problems when
poured down the drain and clog pipes in your home. Did you know FOG
can also clog the sewer pipes under the streets that take the wastewater
from your house to the treatment plant? If that happens, the wastewater
can back up and come to the surface and pollute the environment.
To keep this from happening, collect FOG in a
container and throw it away in the trash.

Pharmaceuticals
Mix the prescription drugs with an
undesirable substance such as used
kitty litter or coffee grounds. Then put
the mix in empty cans or sealable bags
and throw away in the trash. This
further ensures that the drugs are not
diverted or accidentally ingested by
children or pets.
By correctly disposing of
pharmaceuticals, you reduce the risk of
improper drug use in your home while
protecting the environment.

Manteca, Aceites y Grasa (FOG por sus siglas en inglés), es el residuo que
queda al cocinar carnes como el tocino. El residuo se endurece al enfriar
causando problemas si es vertido por el resumidero ya que congestiona la
tubería en su hogar. ¿Sabia usted que FOG también puede congestionar el
sistema de drenaje que lleva las aguas residuales hasta la planta tratadora
de aguas negras? Si esto ocurre, las aguas residuales
pueden retornar y salir a la superficie contaminando el
medio ambiente.
Para evitar que esto ocurra, coloque todo el FOG
(Manteca, Aceites y Grasa) en un contenedor
y tírelo a la basura
medicamentos no usados no deben tirarse
por el resumidero o por el sanitario sino
que deben ser tirados a la basura. Mezcle
los medicamentos con alguna sustancia
indeseable tal como arena sanitaria para
animales domésticos o residuos del café.
Coloque la mezcla en latas vacías o bolsas
selladas y tírela a la basura. Esto evita que
las drogas vayan a ser accidentalmente
consumidas por niños o animales
domésticos.
Al desechar correctamente los
medicamentos, usted reduce el riesgo de
que estos sean consumidos indebidamente
al mismo tiempo que protege el medio
ambiente.
