2. Introduction
AVEVA Partners (OEMs or System Integrators), hereinafter referred to as “partners” are eligible to access
consignment development license from a currently owned consignment, or purchase consignment for
AVEVA Edge development licenses only, which expire in one year. The consignment must be purchased
(renewed) on a yearly basis, so the licenses can be re-issued (renewed).
Partners that already own or purchase the following consignment licenses (and support) are also eligible to
AVEVA Edge development licenses in consignment for no additional charge. Notice that the options below
have a higher cost, but also enables the partners to get development licenses in consignment for other
applicable products from the AVEVA portfolio in addition to AVEVA Edge (refer to the consignment price list
for more details):

The previous table is just illustrative, and it does not provide a comprehensive list of part numbers for
consignment and support. Consult the current version of the official online price list (currently available at
https://softwareom3.wonderware.com/GlobalPriceList/Reports/ReportTemplate.aspx?ReportName=Global
PriceList) for additional details.
The consignment agreement is valid for 12 months, and the respective licenses expire and should no longer
be used after this period. The partners (SIs or OEMs) may renew the consignment every 12 months and
receive new licenses for the next period.
The consignment licenses must be used only to design (develop) projects with the products – not to execute
them in production. Therefore, the runtime functionality of the product is enabled only to the extent that
should be used to test the projects while developing them.
Consignment Licenses must be purchased with Support (CF). In other words, CF is mandatory for the
consignment licenses (not optional). The following rules apply when purchasing consignment licenses along
with Support (CF):

Note: The consignment Part Numbers above are applicable for AVEVA Edge 2020. The consignment Part
Numbers for future versions will likely just have a different suffix (e.g.: EDGEDS-13-P-22 for AVEVA Edge
2022 instead of EDGEDS-13-P-20, which is applicable for AVEVA Edge 2020).
Consignment Licenses are “Development Only” licenses. Runtime licenses must be purchased and cannot
be requested as Consignment. Therefore, for AVEVA Edge, the consignment licenses must be created with
the following settings: Version: The latest (currently, 20.0), Execution Mode: Development Only, Tags:
Unlimited (10 million), Unified Clients: 1000, Duration: up to 365 days (the actual remaining days of
consignment, expiring 365 days after the effective date of the consignment).
Customers eligible for AVEVA Edge development licenses in consignment can also enable InduSoft Web
Studio development licenses in consignment. The latest version of this product offered with the InduSoft
Web Studio brand name is InduSoft Web Studio 2020R2. Future versions will be available under the AVEVA
Edge brand name only. Technically, the licenses for AVEVA Edge are not supported by InduSoft Web Studio,
and vice versa. Therefore, licenses for InduSoft Web Studio must be issued separately from licenses for
AVEVA Edge (see chapter “Activation” for more details).
3. Registration
The partner must register on the AVEVA portal for a new web account
(https://om.AVEVA.com/softwarewebID/) and select the “User Type” as one of the following options from
the online form in order to be eligible for consignment licenses: “OEM” or “System Integrator”.
An AVEVA Technical Support Centre employee reviews the registration form filled and submitted by the
partner and sets another field with the actual “User Type” into AVEVA’s Active Directory system. The “User
Type” must be set properly to “OEM” or “System Integrator” for the Consignment option to be visible.
The partner must also purchase and/or renew an applicable Consignment License with Annual Support to be
eligible for consignment. To do this, the partner must send a Purchase Order (PO) for the respective
consignment license to the AVEVA distributor. Then, AVEVA’s “Operations” team fulfils the order and
provides a license certificate to the distributor, along with the “Serial Number” associated with the
Consignment Agreement. The distributor must forward this information to the partner.
4. Activation
The consignment licenses for AVEVA Edge are temporary Softkey licenses, which expires when the current
consignment agreement expires (up to one year). When/if the consignment license agreement is renewed
by the partner, they can activate the consignment license again.
As mentioned earlier, customers that purchase Consignment Licenses and Annual Support for AVEVA Edge
are eligible also for consignment licenses to InduSoft Web Studio. Notice that any version newer than
2020R2 is available only under the AVEVA Edge brand name (not under the InduSoft Web Studio brand
name). Moreover, projects created in InduSoft Web Studio are automatically supported by newer versions
of AVEVA Edge, but projects created in AVEVA Edge are not supported in InduSoft Web Studio.
After registering for a new AVEVA web account (previous chapter), and purchasing the consignment
licenses with support, the partner must receive the serial number for the respective consignment licenses
along with the License Certificate. Therefore, the partner can access the AVEVA Edge License Activation
page (https://www.aveva.com/en/support/aveva-edge-activation/) to retrieve their consignment licenses
for AVEVA Edge.
The partner needs to activate consignment licenses for InduSoft Web Studio or more than 5 activation
licenses for AVEVA Edge, the activation must be handled manually. In this case, the partner must send an
email to [email protected], indicating the Partner company name (account name), the Partner
name, and the Hardware Identifier (Ste Code) for each license.

5. AVEVA Edge consignment licenses in USB Hardkeys
(dongles)
By default, consignment licenses for AVEVA Edge (and InduSoft Web Studio) are offered as temporary
Softkeys, which should expire when the period for the current consignment is reached (i.e.: 365 days from
the effective date when the consignment license is purchased).
Some partners may require a USB Hardkey (instead of Softkey) as the method of licensing, based on the
convenience of license portability simply by unplugging the USB Hardkey from one computer and plugging it
into another to move the license.
Technically, USB Hardkeys do not support temporary licenses, so its licenses never expire. Therefore, in
cases where a partner eligible for consignment licenses demands USB Hardkeys as the licensing method and
the sales person (or account manager) sees a business justification to fulfil the demand, the following
procedure must be executed:
- The partner must purchase the USB Hardkey(s) where the consignment licenses will be installed
(e.g.: Part Number EDGEHK-01-N);
-
The partner must sign the “AVEVA Edge Hardkey Loan Agreement”, committing to either return the
license to AVEVA when/if the consignment license period expires and it is not renewed, or purchase
the license installed in the USB Hardkey at market value when/if the consignment license period
expires and it is not renewed. This agreement can be provided by a Program Specialist from the
Global System Integrators program (e.g.: [email protected]).
6. Remarks
Entities that are not eligible for consignment licenses (i.e.: end users, or even partners that do not have a
current/valid Development Studio or Advanced Development Studio Consignment license with annual
support), will be prompted to enter the License Serial Number directly. In other words, they will not get the
Activation page asking for “End User Runtime License” or “Consignment” when accessing the licensing web
page (https://softwareom.wonderware.com/Licensegen/default.aspx).
If it happens with a partner that should be eligible for consignment licenses, please contact
[email protected] reporting that the partner is not given the option to activate a consignment
license, and provide the User Name used by the partner to access the aforementioned licensing web page.
The AVEVA Technical Support Centre team must verify that the partner has a current/valid (not expired)
Consignment License with Annual Support, and that their account is set in AVEVA’s system (Active Directory)
as an “OEM” or “System Integrator”. Then, the AVEVA Technical Support Centre team must follow-up with
Page 10 of 10
the distributor with the conclusions and the next steps required for the partner to have access to
consignment license. For example, if the user account was simply set with the incorrect user type in the
AVEVA system (Active Directory), the AVEVA Technical Support Centre team can fix this setting, and the
partner should be able to access the “Consignment” option after signing off and signing on again to the
licensing web site.
