THE RING OF FIRE The ring of fire or ring of fire is the result of a subduction of the Nazca plates, the Cocos plate and the Latin American plate. It is a tectonic chain that measures 40,000 kilometers that is located in the Pacific Ocean in the shape of a horseshoe that is characterized by having a lot of volcanic and seismic activity. It is also responsible for 90% of the planet's seismic activity and the highest volcanic activity in the world. The ocean's terrain sits on several tectonic plates that are in permanent friction and movement. This leads them to accumulate tension and release the energy that is expelled in the volcanoes.
