He was born on February 5, 1985. He played soccer all his childhood. Then he went to play Sporting Lisboa. His professional debut was on August 14 in a Champions League match vs. Inter Milan. For the 2003-04 season, Ronaldo became the first Portuguese player in Manchester United history and made his debut on August 16, 2003, against Bolton Wanderers. In the 2006-07 season Cristiano scored more than 20 goals and won the Premier League for the first time. One year later, on May 21, 2008 he was champion of the UEFA Champions League against Chelsea. He was named the best player of the tournament and top scorer in the tournament. At the end of 2008 Cristiano was named best footballer of the year with the ballon d'or, the first of his football career. On June 11, 2009, he was transferred to Real Madrid.
