The PlayStation was born after the breakdown of Sony's agreement with Nintendo. The agreement consisted of Sony developing the CD-ROM for Nintendo's new SNES PlayStation (Snes CD Rom), which was intended to provide the new Nintendo console with the greatest multimedia capabilities.
