Math Wheel Rounding Decimals Rounding Decimals Math Wheel Thanks for trying the Rounding Decimals Math Wheel! Using this resource: 1) Begin with discussing the number lines, observing that 1.6-1.9 are closer to 2 and 1.1-1.4 are closer to 1. Have students write the labels and have them add several examples (with your guidance and of your choosing) of rounding numbers up or down. (There’s space for several examples). 2) Next, look at the benchmarks, and either have students draw small number lines for a visual (shown in completed example) or add rounding examples. 3) Have students complete the problems (some or all) around the page. Above each number is a T, H, or TH to indicate the place to round to (tenth, hundredth, thousandth). They can then color the problems/answers that round up one color (green in my example) and those that round down another color (pink in my example.) This gives you a very quick visual to see if they rounded the correct way 4) If you like using sayings to help students remember, you can have students add that to the last section of the wheel….maybe have them come up with their own! If you have any questions at all please email me at [email protected] or visit the blog post about this resource on my site, www.cognitivecardiowithmsmm.com.
