Due to the State of Illinois unprecedented
fiscal crisis, they are seeking ways of creating a
more sustainable system for services. These
five systems will reduce administrative costs,
streamline operations, and improve the
coordination of resource sharing services.
The financial condition of
library systems continues to
improve due to the receipt of
recent payments from the
State of Illinois. In November
2010, library systems received
the full balance of FY2010 payments.
In January 2011, systems received the first
payment from the state for FY2011 (July 2010
- June 2011), amounting to approximately
35% of the total appropriations for the fiscal
year.
In 2010, a Merger Design Team was formed
and is currently developing a FY2015. The
Team is working closely with the Illinois State
library to complete the merger process, which
requires the approval of Secretary of State and
State Librarian Jesse White.

Here’s how you can check out a museum pass at your library.
Visit your home library to find out if passes are available, then
check out a pass using your library card. Libraries have a limited
number of passes for each participating organization and are
available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passes cannot be
reserved or checked out online or over the phone. The loan
period is seven days and will expire after the date printed on the
pass. Passes are for one time use and are not transferable. Your
name will be printed on the pass and you may be asked to show
identification at the museum.

Webcams are best friends with Skype. If you
want to see people while you talk to them,
Skype is on the next level from talking on a
phone to the person virtually sitting in the room with you. The internet
is the key to opening the door for a brand new dimension where you
don’t have to ask anymore about how a person looks if you are meeting
someone new. Blind Dates are going to be finally over! Virtual reality
is getting closer to reality. Skype is definitely one of the top
technical devices for communications of the day.
