Why Your Family Needs to Read During Summer Months
Each summer our children look forward to a break from schoolwork, but research shows that children who don’t read
during the summer can lose three months of reading progress or fluency. However, summer reading helps children retain
the skills they need to achieve academic success, also offering them enriching experiences through books.
SUMMER WILL NOT BE THE SAME WITHOUT INCLUDING THE MARKHAM PUBLIC LIBRARY IN YOUR PLANS!!
Sign up for our FREE Summer Reading Program!
Registration starts May 6th and children must have a

Tech Talk
Do you remember the first Polaroid camera?
Polaroid manufactured instant self developing cameras
between 1947 and 1983, model 95 which produced
instant prints in about 1 minute.
3-D PRINTING
Makes a three-dimensional solid
object of virtually any shape from
a digital model. 3D printing is a
process, where layers of materials
are laid down in different shapes,
which relies on the removal of material by cutting or
drilling.
To print, the machine reads
the design from a file, lays
down layers of liquid, powder,
paper or sheet material to
build the model from a series
of cross sections.
In February 2008, Polaroid announced the
discontinued production of film, it shut down three
factories and laid off 450 workers. However, in
October 2009, Polaroid announced it would bring
back its classic instant film cameras.
****************************************************************
Polaroid returned to it’s instant camera roots
last year, merging the convenience of digital
photography with instant printing, the Z2300
instant digital camera.
A digital camera with a printer built in, you
take photos and it can make a 2x3-inch print.
