In calling for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis described his heartfelt desire for a “24 Hours for the Lord” to be implemented around the world on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Week of Lent, i.e., March 4 and 5, with a special focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation. At Immaculate Heart of Mary, the “24 Hours for the Lord” will begin with Mass at 8:30 a.m. this Friday, March 4; it will continue with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament throughout the day on Friday, until the Stations of the Cross—in English at 6:30 p.m. and in Spanish at 7:30 p.m. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will then resume and continue throughout Friday night and Saturday morning, and conclude with Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 9:00 a.m. Please visit the parish website at www.ihmatlanta.org for Exposition guardian sign up. Plan to join Pope Francis and Catholics around the world for this special moment of grace. The Scrutinies, like other Lenten acts of purification and enlightenment, are not for the Elect alone. The Church asks all of us to examine ourselves this week and identify the dry places in our lives—places of thirst that only Christ’s living water can restore. During Lent we recognize that the world around us can often appear barren. But we also remember that, through baptism, we have access to a well that never runs dry. When you bless yourself at the baptismal font this weekend, rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus has opened for us “a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Drew Denton, Director of Faith Formation Day of Reflection with Dr. Louanne Bachner, hosted by IHM School: Fr iday, March 4, 9:00-12:00 in the lower level of the church. We would like to begin by thanking everyone for your continued support and generosity to IHM. Our parish is blessed to have parishioners so willing to share of their treasure for the life of the Church. Offertory for the second quarter (including the Christmas collections), was greater than both the budget and the actual for this quarter last year. Great News! We are now ahead of pace year to date, as well. As you can see from the numbers above, offertory contributions amount to 90% of our anticipated revenue during this first quarter. One way of maintaining a positive trend for offertory donations is by signing up for electronic giving. Please join the many parishioners that have selected that method of parish support; it is much more convenient for you, and it has the potential to minimize seasonal variations in parish revenue. Go to www.ihmatlanta for more information. Divine Playtime income continues to increase as more parents take advantage of this special ministry. While expenses also increased to have enough staff, the net income for the quarter was more than budgeted. As you know, we are still indebted to the Archdiocese for the loan on the new church in the amount of $1,544 484. Recently, we have not been able Cash Balances General Fund Savings Capital Reserves Parish Hall Renovation Sacred Space Reserves Endowment CFNG Marion Grotto Reserves Misc Reserves Total Cash General Fund Cash Flow Beginning Cash Offertory and Other Inc Operating Expenses Prepaid Revenue Unpaid Liabilities FIF/ Debt Reduction Transfer to Savings & Res Ending Cash Balance Mortgage Balance Beginning Balance Payments on Principal Ending Balance 46,853 164,628 229,334 215,637 59,033 14,662 85,563 41,662 857,372 108,984 969,122 (918,725) (168,168) 4,497 65,125 60,835 1,544,484 1,544,484 to make any payments on that outstanding balance, but have been able to stay current with the interest on that loan. As we venture into the second collections for the Debt Reduction Fund that began in January, we received money in this quarter earmarked for that purpose. As you can see, from the report, we have over $35,000 in Debt Reduction Fund payments. When combined with profit from operations, we already have slightly more than $85,000 that would be available to pay down the mortgage at fiscal year end. As you read this, we have received our rebate of $21,887 from the 2015 Archbishop’s Appeal (AAA), and we thank you for your generosity that brought us to that success. As you know, we are now in the midst of the 2016 AAA, and we would like to surpass even last year’s success. Since Annual Appeal gifts above our parish goal are returned to the parish without any archdiocesan assessment and do not count toward future year assessment, every dollar given to the AAA is worth $1.35 given in the Sunday offertory! If you have not already made your 2016 AAA pledge, you may do so at http://appeal.archatl.com/2016. Again, thank you for your support of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Should you have any questions regarding this report, please do not hesitate to contact me.
