SOLES FOR LIFE!
Students Run LA is partnering with Soles For Life, a nonprofit organization that recycles old rubber sole shoes, to
help build or rebuild water wells in countries where water
is not easily accesible. It does not matter how old the
shoes are, so long as they have a rubber sole and are tied
together as a pair. We would love to make this a school
wide effort. Synergy Quantum Academy’s minimum goal is
300 pairs. As Maya Angelou CHS we would love to raise
over 1,000 pairs to help as many people as possible.
Please look through your closet and send your shoes with
your student. We will collect as many pairs possible until
the end of February 2014! Thank you for your support!

Winter Break!
Winter Break begins
December 21 and runs
through January 12, 2014.

Leadership are gearing up to welcome Winter Break. On
Friday evening the freshmen and sophomores of all three
schools will present “Nightmare before Christmas” The
theme seemed appropriate as the day for the dance is
Friday December 13, 2013. Cost: $10 singles; $12
couples and $15 at the door on the night of the dance.

Meet the Staff !
Our staff member of the
week is Mr. Kim. Mr. Kim
graduated from Palos Verdes
High School. He received a
Bachelors degree in English
from California State
University, Los Angeles. Mr.
Kim earned his teaching
credential because he feels
that to educate is the greatest
gift to impart. !
!
During his high school
years, Mr. Kim assisted his
parents in their business. Mr.
Kim spends his afternoons
tutoring students and helping
them perfect their writing of
fi v e p a r a g r a p h e s s a y s ,
improving vocabulary and
improving their reading
comprehension.!
!
Mr. Kim began subbing in
2008. Mr. Kim was a substitute
teacher at Synergy Kinetic and
when we opened Synergy
Quantum Academy, he began
working here as a campus
assistant. !
!
This year Mr. Kim assists
in the computer lab and is in
charge of creating the slide
shows for the morning
assembly. Mr. Kim loves
technology and thinks the
Reading Counts program is
awesome.!

might still make the team by

obtaining a GPA of 2.0 or

Nuestro personal de la
semana es el Sr. Kim. El Sr.
Kim se graduó de la escuela
preparatoria Palos Verdes. El
recibió su licenciatura de Ingles de la Universidad de California, Los Ángeles. El Sr. Kim
obtuvo su credencial de enseñanza porque siente que
educar es el regalo mas
grande que impartir.!

Durante sus años de escuela secundaria, el Sr. Kim
ayudo a sus padres en su negocio. El Sr. Kim pasa sus
tardes de tutor de estudiantes
y ayudar a perfeccionar su
escritura de ensayos de cinco
párrafos, mejorar el vocabulario y mejorar su comprensión
de lectura.!

El Sr. Kim comenzó a
sustituir en el 2008. El Sr. Kim
fue un sustituto en Synergy
Kinetic y cuando abrimos Synergy Quantum Academy, el
comenzó a trabajar aquí como
asistente de supervisión. !

Este año el Sr. Kim asiste
en el laboratorio de computadoras y esta encargado de
crear la presentación de dia-

Es ese tiempo del año y los estudiantes de Liderazgo
se están preparando para recibir las vacaciones de
invierno. El viernes por la tarde los estudiantes del noveno
y decimo grado de las tres escuelas presentaran “Pesadilla
antes del Navidad” El tema parecía apropiado como el día
de la danza es el viernes 13 de diciembre 2013. Costo: $10
solteros, $12 parejas y $15 en la puerta en la noche del
baile. Espero verlos allí.

SUELAS PARA LA VIDA!
Los estudiantes de Students Run LA están asociados con
Soles For Life, una organización sin fines de lucro que recicla
zapatos con suelas de hule, para ayudar construir o reconstruir pozos de agua en países donde el agua no es fácilmente accesible. No importa que tan viejos sean los zapatos,
con tal de que tengan la suela de hule y estén unidos juntos
como un par. Nos encantaría hacer esto un gran esfuerzo de
la escuela, meta mínima de Synergy Quantum Academy es
300 pares. Como Maya Angelou CHS nos encantaría juntar
mas de 1,000 pares para ayudar a tantas personas como sea
posible. Por favor de buscar en su closet y mande sus zapatos con sus estudiante. Nosotros colectaremos los tantos
