Note: Esta Póliza de Camino Seguro Reemplasa la Poliza de Puerta Abierta The Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim Member Discipline Procedures These policies were set in place to ensure that the Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim is a safe and positive place for all of its members. We follow a several step method to give members an opportunity to correct any inappropriate behavior. In the event that the Club has exhausted all possible steps and the member is still exhibiting behaviors not allowed he or she may be dismissed from the Club. One of our goals is to help your child develop a positive self image. We recognize that children need clearly defined limits set in a non-threatening yet firm manner. We encourage children to be self-directed and exhibit self-control. In order to achieve these goals, we apply principles that build individual esteem and avoid any practices which may shame children into submission. Children are provided with close supervision, gentle guidance and redirection. When all else fails, we will have the child think about the situation in a “Reflection Time.” We DO NOT condone or employ corporal punishment as a means of discipline. At the Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim our members our expected to: ⇒ BE SAFE ⇒ BE RESPONSIBLE ⇒ BE RESPECTFUL ⇒ BE FAIR & HONEST ⇒ BE A GOOD SPORT ⇒ BE READY TO HAVE FUN The following behaviors are not allowed on Club property at any time: 1. At no time make any threat to commit, attempt to commit, or commit any act of physical violence against Club staff, volunteers, collaborative partners and or other members. 2. At no time bring any knife, toy or real gun or any other weapon on Club property or while participating in offsite events. 3. At no time deface damage, destroy, steal or litter on Club or City property. 4. At no time use profane or vulgar language or make obscene or suggestive gestures. 5. At no time possess or distribute “look-alike” drug substances or drug paraphernalia. 6. At no time commit sexual harassment such as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and/or other verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual nature– verbally, physically or through the use of technology/social media. 7. At no time cause, attempt to cause, threaten to cause or participate in an act of hate or violence– either verbally, physically or through the use of technology/social media. Opening the doors to great futures! BULLYING– ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY Bullying is a dangerous behavior that can have a potentially damaging effect on both bullies and victims for many years. In order to stop it, a concerted effort is being made to offer a safe space for all of our members to voice their concerns and develop healthy behaviors and relationships with their peers. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim promotes a bully-free environment in which all members can learn and grow. Any member caught in the act or participating in the act of bullying– verbally, physically or through the use of technology/social media will be dismissed from the program immediately. Disciplinary Process: ♦ FIRST STEP - Verbal Warning ♦ SECOND STEP - Phone Call Home and Loss of Club privileges for 10 minutes (“Reflection Time”) ♦ THIRD STEP - Meeting with the parent, member and Unit Director to develop a Behavior Contract ♦ FOURTH STEP - Suspension for the program (length of suspension will vary depending on the severity of the incident. Parent/legal guardian, member and Unit Director must meet before being allowed to come back to the Club) ♦ FIFTH STEP - Dismissed from the program Immediate Dismissal: The Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim reserve the right to immediately dismiss a member from the Club for the following reasons: ♦ Parent/legal guardian or member has abusive conduct-either verbally, physically or through the use of technology/social media (including sexual harassment) towards staff, Club members, volunteers, collaborative partners, other families or property. ♦ Parent/legal guardian or member jeopardizes the health and safety of other members and or staff, volunteers and collaborative partners. ♦ Parent/legal guardian or member is uncooperative with staff and/or with operating policies. ♦ Member is caught bullying or participating in an act of bullying. ♦ Member is caught with a weapon on Club property or while participating in off-site activities. *Dismissal Members can be dismissed from the program indefinitely or for a specified period of time depending on the severity of the situation. In most cases members immediately dismissed will not be allowed to renew their membership at a future date. Once a member is dismissed from a Club they cannot become a member at any of the other Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim locations until dismissal period is lifted. *Parent Concerns The Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim will work diligently to help your child improve any negative behaviors. Steps will be set in place to help them avoid any situations that may provoke certain behaviors.
