Dear Parents and Guardians: Thank you to everyone who attended the Expanding the Region public forum in Pelham on Wednesday. It was great to have an opportunity to share information about the potential expansion of the Region. The next public forum on this topic is scheduled at Shutesbury Elementary on Wednesday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. Tomorrow I am looking forward to the Hurricane Revisioning Summit where our community will have the opportunity to hear about and discuss the potential merging of Amherst Regional Middle School and Amherst Regional High School. Thank you to everyone who has reserved a space at the Summit. If you want to come but did not RSVP, please still feel free to attend. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the ARMS auditorium and the event runs until 3:00 p.m. Have a great weekend! The initial estimated cost of building a Grade 2-6 school would be between $47-53 million, with the cost to Amherst taxpayers of between $19.7-22.3 million. To replace both Wildwood (with MSBA funding) and Fort River (without MSBA funding) with new buildings, the initial estimate of the cost would be $60-69 million. The cost to Amherst taxpayers would be between $43-50 million. This model would more than double the cost to Is t his just a physical move, or wil l t his ent ail changes t o t he way Grades 7 and 8 are t aught ? It is a physical move, and the way in which our students in grades 7 and 8 will remain the same for the core subjects. We are exploring how grades 7 and 8 students can also take advantage of the rich array of electives available at the high school.
