How to Refer a Family to Clothes To Kids Clothes To Kids of Denver, Inc. (CTKD) provides new and quality used clothing to school-age students from low-income or in-crisis families in the Denver Metro Area, free of charge. CTKD is open year-­‐round. General Information Eligible students can shop for a wardrobe of clothing twice per year. We carefully evaluate all clothing donations available in our store to ensure that items available are in good condition. We have some clothing appropriate for school uniforms, but cannot guarantee availability due to the high demand for these items. The CTKD store is open from 9am – 12pm Tuesday through Friday. Saturday appointments are available 1-­‐2 times per month, depending on the time of year. A CTKD wardrobe consists of: 5 new pairs of underwear 5 new pairs of socks 5 tops 4 pants, shorts or skirts 1 dress (optional) 1 pair of shoes 1 jacket Referral Instructions 1. There are three requirements to be eligible to shop at CTKD: The family must live in the Denver Metro Area. Children in foster care through Denver Human Services who are in placement in a household outside of Metro Denver are also eligible. Students must be Preschool -­‐ 12th grade, or working toward a GED. The family must be considered in need of assistance: i) Receiving free or reduced lunch (FRL). ii) Receiving services from a social service agency, school or counseling center. iii) In crisis due to natural disaster, poverty, homelessness or displacement. 2. Families can be referred by: A letter showing the children’s eligibility for free and reduced price lunch (FRL Letter). A social worker or case manager employed at a local social service agency. A teacher, administrator, guidance counselor or social worker from a school. A leader from a family’s place of worship. 3. All referrals must be printed on the letterhead for the agency, school or place of worship: The referral form and directions to our shop are included on the next two pages and can always be downloaded from our website: http://clothestokidsdenver.org/referral-­‐process/ Families may also use a current copy of their FRL Letter as a stand-­‐alone referral. No other documentation is needed with the FRL Letter and this letter may be used twice as a referral. Please fill out all of the requested information and include all of the children eligible. Babies and children under 4-­‐years-­‐old not eligible to shop and should not be included on the form. 4. Shopping is by appointment only and clients are responsible for making an appointment: The store number is (720) 379-­‐4630. Please ask clients to call the store once and leave a voice message that includes their name and phone number. During busy times of the year (i.e. back to school), it may take CTKD a couple days to return the call. Thank you for your patience!
