Dear Parents and Guardians:
It’s been a very busy, productive week. It was wonderful to see so many of you at the screening of Most Likely
to Succeed on Wednesday night—there was a great turn-out! The film sparked a great discussion about how we
can best educate our children for success in the 21st century job market and as engaged, contributing members
of the community. On Thursday I met with more than 30 of our partners from the community and higher
education to discuss our work together as we revision our schools Pre-K to 12. It was a highly productive
meeting, and it was wonderful to see the deep commitment our community partners have to our children.
I’m sorry I missed seeing everyone at the Merging ARMS & ARHS Community Listening Session at Shutesbury
Elementary School on Thursday night. District Finance Director Sean Mangano and I attended the Amherst Four
Boards meeting, which is where the Town of Amherst shares budget projections for the 2016-2017 budget (yes,
it’s really already time to start planning for that!) I’m looking forward to hearing the feedback and questions
you shared with our partners at the Massachusetts Office of Public Collaboration. The next opportunity to hear
more about this project is next Monday, October 19 with student-led tours of ARHS from 5:30 to 6:30 and a
listening session from 6:30 to 8:30 in the ARHS library.
In the meantime, you can find more information about Merging ARMS & ARHS at our new Facebook page
Amherst-Pelham Regional Schools: Merging ARMS & ARHS. Information about the possible expansion of the
current Region is available on Facebook at Amherst-Pelham Regional Schools: Expanding the Region. I hope
you’ll follow our progress on both pages.
Have a great weekend,
Maria

equity for all students and ensures
that each student is a successful
learner, is fully respected, and
learns to respect others.
You want to get as much
information as possible from
your child?s teacher during the
conference, and these
questions can help guide the
conversation.
