When my son Paul was a toddler, his favorite book was “The Pig in the Pond.” It’s

At every Mass, we share our story. The Liturgy of the Word invites us into Jewish
Scripture, the Psalms, the letters of the apostles, and the Gospel.
Every Sunday reminds us of our universal human story: we are created tenderly
by God, but we are not God.

and again, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, teens and all adults, from
young to old. We need to share our story at home, at work, at play, and, in a special way, at Mass.

Announcements

Parking: Please watch the signs. Do not park in No Parking areas for any length of time. Remember that vehicles
must not be parked in front of fire hydrants for any length of time. Cars parked in these areas may be ticketed.
Recess: All students enjoy recess time every day. It is important that your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather so recess is an enjoyable time. The weather during the season of fall in Wisconsin can be warm one day,
and cold the next. Please check the weather report every day to ensure that your child is prepared to go out to
recess.
Alert/Now School Closings: At Prince of Peace School, we are constantly looking for ways to improve communication between the home and school. In order to keep you better informed, we have an automated calling service called Alert Now. When we have information you need to know or on days when we have to close school,
the system will call you with a message. It is also a good idea to watch the news or listen to the radio in the
morning to find out if school has been closed for the day. If Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) are closed due to
weather, Prince of Peace School will also be closed.

[Jesus] went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He
stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the
scroll and found the passage where it was written:

You might be surprised at
how many details family
members can remember
when they know a discussion will follow Mass.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor….”
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes
of all in the synagogue looked intently at him (Lk 4:16-18, 20).
Jesus reads from the Book of Isaiah. Right this minute, we can turn to Isaiah 61 in
our modern Bibles and follow along with Jesus. When we bring our families to Mass
each Sunday, we imitate Jesus, who practiced the regular habit of sharing our very
same scriptures with his faith community.
When we join our voices in singing the Responsorial Psalm, we imitate Jesus again.
The Gospel tells us Jesus sang Psalms with his disciples (Mk 14:26, Mt 26:30). Jesus
sang! Can you imagine what his singing voice sounded like? Especially if you’re shy
or not fond of singing, take a few moments to imagine Jesus singing with his disciples. Pay attention to how it feels when Jesus includes you in the ancient Hebrew
song he sings with his friends.
Even though our families differ greatly, we share a common story. We are treasured, nourished, and saved by God.
Thanks be to God, we are free to read about our story in Scripture anywhere. But
when we share our sacred story together at Mass, we imitate Jesus. We also encourage one another to keep living the story!
Just as “the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently” at Jesus, we become
stronger as the family of God when we direct our gaze together at Jesus. We know
he is always looking at us, with a heart full of love.

este vestido apropiadamente para el clima, así el recreo será un tiempo agradable. El clima durante la
temporada del otoño en Wisconsin puede ser caliente un día, y frío el siguiente día. Por favor, consulte el
reporte del tiempo todos los días para asegurarse de que su hijo está preparado para salir al recreo.
Alerta/Ahora Cierre de Clases! La Escuela Príncipe de Paz, está constantemente buscando maneras de
mejorar la comunicación entre el hogar y la escuela. Con el fin de mantenerle mejor informado, hemos
establecido un servicio de llamadas automatizado llamado Alerta Ahora. Cuando tenemos información
que usted necesita saber o en los días en que tenemos que cerrar la escuela, el sistema le llamará con un
mensaje. También es una buena idea ver las noticias o escuchar la radio por la mañana para averiguar si
ese día la escuela ha sido cerrada. Si las Escuelas Públicas de Milwaukee (MPS) se cierran debido al mal
clima, la escuela Príncipe de Paz también estará cerrada.

[Jesús] fue de acuerdo a su tradición a la sinagoga el día sábado. Él se levantó a
leer y se le entregó un manuscrito del profeta Isaías. Él desenrolló el manuscrito
y encontró el pasaje donde estaba escrito:
"El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí,
porque él me ha ungido
para traer buenas nuevas a los pobres... ".
Enrollando el manuscrito, lo devolvió al ministro, y se sentó, y los ojos de todos
en la sinagoga lo miraban fijamente a él (Lc 4, 16-18, 20).
Jesús lee del libro de Isaías. En este mismo momento, podemos recurrir a Isaías
61 en nuestras Biblias modernas y seguir junto con Jesús. Cuando traemos nuestras familias a misa todos los domingos, imitamos a Jesús, que practico el hábito
regular de compartir nuestras mismas escrituras con su comunidad de fe.
Cuando unimos nuestras voces en el canto del salmo responsorial, imitamos a
Jesús de nuevo. El Evangelio nos dice que Jesús cantaba salmos con sus discípulos (Mc 14:26, Mt 26:30). Jesús cantó! Te imaginas como sonaba su voz cantando? Especialmente si usted es tímido o no aficionado a cantar, tomar un momento para imaginar a Jesús cantando con sus discípulos. Preste atención de lo
que se siente cuando Jesús lo incluyo a usted en la antigua canción hebrea cantando con sus amigos.
A pesar de que nuestras familias son muy diferentes, compartimos una historia
común. Nosotros somos atesorados, sustentados y salvados por Dios.
Gracias a Dios, somos libres de leer acerca de nuestra historia en la Biblia en
cualquier lugar. Pero cuando compartimos nuestras sagradas historias juntos en
Misa, imitamos a Jesús. También animamos unos a otros a seguir viviendo la
historia!
Así como "los ojos de todos en la sinagoga miraron fijamente" a Jesús, nos hacemos más fuertes como familia de Dios cuando dirigimos nuestra mirada juntos
hacia Jesús. Sabemos que siempre nos está mirando, con un corazón lleno de
amor.

PASOS A SEGUIR
Prepararse! Leer algunas o
todas las lecturas del domingo
juntos en familia antes de la Misa. Considere la elección de palabras o frases favoritas para
escuchar durante la Liturgia de
la Palabra. Tal vez incluso ofrecer un premio divertido para el
miembro de la familia que eligió
la palabra que el predicador resalto en la homilía.
Practicar! Hacer un viaje de
estudio un día a la semana a la
iglesia con sus niños pequeños.
En los bancos vacíos, practicar
cómo susurrar y mantenerse
quietos. Incluso unos pocos minutos de práctica ayudarán los
domingos a sentirse más apacibles.
Reflexionar! Dedique un tiem-
po más tarde para recordar las
lecturas y para discutir la homilía. Usted puede sorprenderse
por la cantidad de detalles que
los miembros de la familia pueden recordar cuando saben que
un dialogo continuara después
de Misa.
