Welcome to the School of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering - Technical University of Madrid (UPM)- THE SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS AND AEROSPACE ENGINEERING (Escuela de Ingeniería Aeronáutica y del Espacio (EIAE ) was formed in 2010 through the merger of two aeronautical engineering schools with a long standing tradition : the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Aeronáuticos (ETSIA) and the Escuela Universitaria de Ingeniería Tecnica Aeronáutica (EUITA) (1929 Building at Cuatro Vientos Airport, housing the ETSIA and also the EUITA, ten years later) In this way the two aeronautical centers of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) have joined their efforts and assets to meet the demands of the 21st century aerospace engineer. Location EIAE’s main buildings are located In the center of Madrid, within the university campus of Ciudad Universitaria Other associated institutes and laboratories are at suburban technological parks Four-year - Bachelor’s Degree In Academic Programmes Aerospace Engineering Graduado/a en Ingeniería Aeroespacial por la UPM (GIA) Two year Aeronautical Engineer Master ‘s Degree ( will start in September 2014) • 120 ECTS credits • Qualification: Ingeniero Aeronáutico • Two year common core + 3rd and 4th years specialisation in any of the following aeronautical fields: Aerospace Vehicles Aerospace propulsion Aerospace Sciences & Technologies Airports & Air transport Air-Navigation & Aerospace Systems • 240 ECTS credits 133,5 Scientific & Technology based credits: 82,5 Specialisation credits 24 Elective subjects & End of Degree Projectwork • Qualifications: “ Ingeniero Técnico Aeronáutico” Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering Academic Programmes 2 Competences Graduates will acquire the ability to: •Design, develop and manage, in the field of their respective specialisation of aeronautical engineering and in accordance with the knowledge they acquire: aerospace vehicles, aerospace propulsion systems, aerospace materials, airport infrastructures, air navigation infrastructures and all kinds of management systems related to air space, air traffic and air transport. • Undertake activities related to planning, technical direction, expert appraisal, writing of reports for tasks associated with Technical Aeronautical •Take part in flight test programmes for data •Analyse and assess the social and environmental impact of technical solutions. •Drawing up and implementing technical projects, expert appraisals and reports in the field of Aeronautical Engineering. •Directing and coordinating production, operation and maintenance activities in their chosen field. •Directing all types of industries or operations associated with aeronautical engineering, and managing activities associated with bringing the products of such companies onto the market. •Acquiring skills associated with quality, the environment and workplace hazard in aeronautical settings A complete list of subject courses can be found at : Curriculum Timetable and academic calendar are available at: ordenación académica SOME FACTS & FIGURES: staff Faculty Tenured and tenure track faculty = 193 Contract faculty members = 54 Aerotecnia Física Aplicada a la Ingeniería Aeronáutica.
