FIRST COMMUNION PRACTICE
DATES
Tuesday, May 1st at 7:00 P.M. for the students who will be
making their First Communion in English.
Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00 P.M. for the students who will be
making their First Communion in Spanish.
All First Communion students are to attend the
rehearsal, are to meet in church and arrive on time.
PRÁCTICA PARA LAS PRIMERAS COMUNIONES
Todos los estudiantes que se están preparando para
recibir la Primera Comunión deben de asistir al ensayo
en la iglesia y llegar:
Martes, 1 de mayo a las 7:00 PM para los estudiantes que van
a recibir la Primera Comunión en Inglés.
Jueves, 3 de mayo a las 7:00 PM para los estudiantes que
van a recibir su Primera Comunión en español.
FIRST COMMUNIONS
First Communion Masses will be held on Saturday, May 5th
at 10:00 A.M. in English, 2:00 P.M. in Spanish. ALL first
communicants are to meet in Scalabrini Hall one hour before
in order to have their Communion Pictures taken.

Las Primeras Comuniones serán el sábado, 5 de Mayo a las
10:00 AM en inglés y a las 2:00 P.M. en español. Todos los
niños (as) que van recibir el Sacramento de la Primera

Dear Parishioners,
We are enjoying the spring season in our area and the
Universal Church is celebrating Easter Season. This week
some young members of your families will be approaching
the sacrament of reconciliation as a preparation for their
First Holy Communion. We praise the Lord for all these
blessings!
In the gospel of this Third Sunday of Easter we see Jesus
reassuring his disciples that it was really he that they were
seeing; he was back to life, he had risen from the dead.
After having reassured them he commanded them to go out
and to tell everyone the “Good News” about his resurrection
from the dead.
Fr. Gildardo, Br. Charles and I thank you for your prayers
and good wishers on our annual provincial assembly of the
Scalabrini confreres; those who were here before send you
greetings; I know that they wish to be here.

Estimados Amigos de nuestra comunidad,
En nuestra área estamos gozando de la estación de la
primavera y en la Iglesia Universal estamos celebrando el
tiempo de la Pascua. Esta semana algunos niños y Niñas de
sus familias tendrán la posibilidad de celebrar el sacramento
de la reconciliación como preparación a su Primera
Comunión; y ¡le agradecemos al Señor por todas estas
bendiciones!
En el evangelio de este Tercer Domingo de Pascua
escuchamos como Jesucristo ha reafirmado la fe de sus
discípulos después de su resurrección; realmente era él quien
nos hablaba. Después de quitarles las dudas, los envía a todo
el mundo a proclamar la “Buena Nueva” de su muerte y
resurrección.
El P. Gildardo, el Hno. Charles y yo les agradecemos por sus
oraciones y buenos deseos por la ocasión de nuestra
Asamblea Provincial anual. Los co-hermanos que aquí
estaban les envían saludos; yo sé que desearían estar aquí!

THE RISEN CHRIST
In this Sunday’s first reading and Gospel we see Peter and the other disciples in
action after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. On trial, they refused to stop
teaching in Jesus’ name, and they rejoiced at the opportunity to suffer for their
beliefs. On the lake and its shore, face to face with the Risen Lord, they obeyed his
directions and recognized him as he once again ate a meal with them. There are so
many human and almost homey touches in these readings! The high priest in the
first scene sounds as if he is scolding naughty students. There is an order to stop
speaking in Jesus’ name, but it is evident everyone knows they will disobey again.
And on the lake shore, we can imagine Peter panting, dripping wet and excited,
while Jesus grins and says, “Come, have breakfast.”The second reading, on the
other hand, is anything but homey. In this passage from Revelation, John describes
a scene in which the same Lord who fed his friends breakfast here receives honor
and glory from everything in
the universe.
EL CRISTO RESUCITADO
En la primera lectura y en el Evangelio de este Domingo vemos a Pedro y a los
demás discípulos en acción después de la muerte y resurrección de Jesucristo. Ante
el tribunal se niegan a dejar de enseñar en nombre de Jesús, y se gozan ante la
oportunidad de sufrir por sus creencias. En el lago y a su orilla, cara a cara con el
Señor Resucitado, obedecen sus instrucciones y lo reconocen al comer de nuevo con
ellos. ¡Hay tantos detalles humanos y casi familiares en estas lecturas! El sumo
sacerdote en la primera escena suena como si estuviera regañando a unos
estudiantes desobedientes. Les ordena no hablar en nombre de Jesús, pero es
evidente que todos saben que ellos desobedecerán de nuevo. Y a la orilla del lago,
nos podemos imaginar a Pedro jadeante, empapado y emocionado, mientras Jesús
les dice risueño: “Vengan a desayunar”. La segunda lectura, en cambio, es todo,
menos familiar. En este pasaje del Apocalipsis, Juan describe una escena en la que
ese mismo Señor que invitó a sus discípulos a desayunar, recibe honor y gloria de
todo el universo.
IL CRISTO RISORTO
Nella prima Lettura e nel Vangelo di questa Domenica vediamo a Pietro e gli altri
discepoli in azione dopo la morte e la risurrezione di Gesù Cristo. Dinanzi il
tribunale hanno rifiutato di
smettere di insegnare nel nome di Gesù, e gioiscono per la possibilità di soffrire per
la fede. Sul lago e sulle rive, faccia a faccia con il Signore risorto, obbediscono alle
sue istruzioni ed è riconosciuto al momento di mangiare con loro. Ci sono tanti
dettagli umani e cosí famigliari in queste letture! Il sommo sacerdote nella prima
scena sembra come se fosse rimproverando a degli studenti disobbedienti.
Ordinando loro di non parlare nel nome di Gesù, ma è chiaro che
tutti sanno che disobbediranno di nuovo. E sulla riva del lago, ci possiamo
immaginare a Pietro, lavorando, bagnato ed eccitato, mentre Gesù gli dice
sorridendo: "Venite a fare colazione". La seconda lettura, invece, è tutt'altro che
familiare. In questo passo dell'Apocalisse, Giovanni descrive una scena in cui lo
stesso Signore che ha invitato ai suoi discepoli a far colazione, riceve l'onore e la
gloria dell'universo.
