Dear High School Parents, We are excited to publish the official Week Without Walls workshop offerings for 2009! Please visit www.asfg.mx/highschool/www/www.php to learn about these 22 exciting learning adventures. WWW will take place this year from March 13 to 20. On Friday, January 30 during the school day students will attend three workshop presentations of their choice during a brief “Workshop Fair”. Then on Tuesday, February 3rd through Thursday, February 5th students will sign up for their chosen workshop. Because some workshops will fill quickly, we encourage students to sign up early on Tuesday if they feel strongly about their first choice. Finally, I ask that parents speak with their children about the great privilege they have being a part of WWW’s unique learning experience and the great responsibility that they must assume to make it successful. Only at a school like ASFG, where students strive to be purposeful learners, is a program like this at all possible. Although our high school teachers sponsor these workshops and will work hard to ensure high quality experiential and academic learning objectives, their role is really one of facilitation, not leadership. This year, we are relying on the students’ enthusiasm, initiative, creativity, leadership and collaboration to construct these workshops from the bottom up. The high school administration and teachers greatly appreciate all the help parents can provide in encouraging all students to embrace this responsibility and be active participants. We would like to congratulate and thank the students who attended the first planning session. Please know there are a number of workshops that could use more student leaders; those interested should seek out the teacher sponsors. Thank you for your continued support of our WWW program. Estimados Padres de Familia de High School, ¡Nos da mucho gusto poder publicar la lista oficial de los talleres que se ofrecerán durante la semana de WWW del 2009! Por favor visiten la página www.asfg.mx/highschool/www/www.php para leer sobre estas 22 emocionantes aventuras de aprendizaje. WWW se realizará durante el mes de marzo del 13 al 20. El viernes 30 de enero, durante el día, los alumnos asistirán a tres presentaciones de su agrado durante una “Mini Feria de Talleres”. Del martes 3 de febrero al 5 de febrero, los alumnos se anotarán en el taller que hayan elegido. Ya que en algunos de los talleres el cupo se llenará rápidamente, les sugerimos a los alumnos que se anoten temprano el martes si ya han decidido qué taller quieren. Por último, les pido a los padres que platiquen con sus hijos sobre el privilegio del que gozan al formar parte de la experiencia de aprendizaje de WWW y de la gran responsabilidad que deben asumir para que sea un éxito. Solamente en un colegio como ASFG, donde los alumnos se esfuerzan por aprender, es posible un programa como éste. Aunque nuestros maestros de High School son los promotores de los talleres y se esforzarán para que los objetivos de aprendizaje y experiencia sean de alta calidad, su papel realmente es el de facilitadores, no líderes. Este año, estamos confiando en el entusiasmo, iniciativa, creatividad, liderazgo y colaboración de los alumnos para crear estos talleres. La administración de High School y los maestros agradecen el apoyo de los padres al animar a todos los alumnos a aceptar esta responsabilidad y ser participantes activos. Deseamos felicitar y agradecer a los alumnos que asistieron a la primera sesión de planeación. Queremos que sepan que aún hay varios talleres que necesitan más alumnos líderes; aquellos que estén interesados deberán buscar y hablar con el maestro promotor del taller.
