Pastoral Message
Dear Brothers and Sister in Christ, our commitment as Saint Rita Church is to provide spaces for our formation and spiritual growth. We invite you to participate in two events that we will have in our parish:
The first one is “Symbolon”, the Catholic Faith Explained. Symbolon is a good opportunity to learn more
about our faith and how to live it in a better way. Many times we, as believers, ignore or don’t know the truths
of our faith, gospel principles and moral principles. Not knowing our faith, Jesus’ teachings and doctrine of the Church is dangerous to faith; that’s why a lot of people turn away from the Church, because
they do not know the truth, the essence of the Church. We would like to invite you to make the Symbolon program your own. A team has been planning this activity since last year and they are optimistic and eager to
work with you. All are invited. God uses many ways and tools to nurture the faith of his people. See you there!
Secondly, Father Ed Shea, OFM will visit our parish again on Saturday, February 14th. The purpose of his visit
is to help us prepare for Lent that will start the following week.
“Rekindling the Flame”. If you remember Father Shay, who was here some months ago presenting some
teachings, is very enthusiastic, cheerful and has the ability to speak in English and in Spanish. I participated
in his talk and everybody was laughing the whole time. Come join us and prepare well to begin Lent. May the
Lord turn the flame of faith in our hearts so that we may be faithful and active disciples to the Lord.

Retreat for Veterans
A new ministry outreach for veterans and their families, presented by the Bellarmine Retreat House in Barrington, has
created a free one day retreat targeting veterans and their
families. The retreats are modeled after the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises which help retreatants find God in their
everyday lives. Given what these veterans and their families
have experienced during their military service, this retreat

faith for the whole parish affecting how we think, how we
pray, and how we live our lives as Catholics. The 10 episodes
in this program will take you through the story of the Catholic faith including topics such as Sacred Scripture, the History of Salvation, Jesus, the Church, Mary & the Saints. We
encourage every parishioner to take advantage of this excellent resource so we can not only understand and live our
faith more deeply, but share it with others.

The Society of St. Vincent DePaul St. Rita’s Conference
wishes to thank you for your generous donation of
$17,000, which we received in 2014. We thank you not
only for your monetary donations – but for the many
prayers that have been said on our behalf – that is what
keeps our faithful volunteers continuing to respond to
God’s call and gives our clients hope. With the economic
situation our nation continues to be in today there is definitely a need within our parish boundaries – and around
the world - not only for financial assistance – but the
hope that Christ’s love brings to us all. Thank you for supporting us so generously with the funds and prayers to
endeavor to bring Christ’s love to the less fortunate.
When we visit most importantly we pray with the family,
then we research each situation, giving financial advice as
to what could be changed to rectify their status in life.
Sometimes it could be better financial planning or seeking
help from additional resources. Whatever the outcome,
we listen to their story and let them know that someone
cares. We try to be the face of Christ to them, showing
love and compassion while still challenging them to better
themselves and their relationship with God.
You may not be aware that at each of our meetings, we keep

our past Speaker Series. He will bring us an inspiring
morning to enable us to meet the upcoming season of
Lent head on and ready. Ash Wednesday is Feb. 18! Fr.
Ed is bilingual and has a knack for engaging a bilingual
audience with joy, enthusiasm and song. This event will
be held in the Church Hall.

Mensaje Pastoral
Queridos hermanos en Cristo, nuestro compromiso como iglesia de Santa Rita es proveer espacios para nuestra formación y crecimiento espiritual. Queremos invitarlos a ustedes a participar de dos eventos que
vamos a tener en nuestra parroquia:
El primero es “SYMBOLON” The Catholic faith explained. Symbolon es un espacio oportuno para conocer
más nuestra fe y poder vivirla mejor. Muchas veces nosotros como creyentes ignoramos o desconocemos las
verdades de nuestra fe, los principios del evangelio y los principios morales. El desconocer nuestra fe,
las enseñanzas de Jesús y la doctrina de la iglesia es peligroso para la fe; por eso muchas personas se alejan de la iglesia, porque no conocen la Verdad y la esencia misma de la Iglesia. Queremos invitarlos
a hacer propio este programa, ‘SYMBOLON’. Un equipo de trabajo ha estado planeando esta actividad
desde el año pasado y están optimistas y deseosos de contar con ustedes. Todos están invitados. Dios usa
muchas formas y herramientas para alimentar la fe de su pueblo. ¡Los esperamos!
En segundo lugar, el padre Ed Shea, OFM, vendrá a visitar nuestra parroquia de nuevo este sábado 14 de
febrero. El objetivo de su visita es ayudarnos a preparar para la cuaresma que estaremos empezando la otra
semana.
“Reavivando la Llama”. Si tú recuerdas al padre Shay quien estuvo hace algunos meses atrás presentando
unas enseñanzas, es muy entusiasta, alegre, y tiene la habilidad para hablar en inglés y en español. Yo participé en su plática y todos estaban riendo todo el tiempo. Ven, acompáñanos y preparémonos bien para empezar
la Cuaresma. Que el Señor encienda la llama de la fe en nuestros corazones para que seamos esos discípulos
activos y fieles al Señor.

A partir de mañana 9 de febrero y hasta el día 11 de febrero, los sacerdotes de la Diócesis de Rockford tendremos
nuestro “Conferencia Invernal de Clérigos.” Por tanto no
habrá celebración Eucarística a las 7:30 am en esos días.
Nuestro Diácono Richard Martin estará a cargo de la Liturgia de la Palabra.
El miércoles 11 de febrero tendremos la misa regular de
7:00 P.M.

Retiro para veteranos
Un nuevo ministerio de alcance para los veteranos y sus familias, presentado por Bellarmine Retreat House en Barrington,
ha creado un retiro de un día diseñado para veteranos y sus
familias. Los retiros siguen el modelo de los Ejercicios Espirituales Ignacianos, los cuales ayudan a los participantes del retiro y sus familias a encontrar a Dios en sus vidas diarias. Teniendo en cuenta lo que estos veteranos y sus familias han experimentado durante su servicio militar, este retiro podría iniciar
una jornada muy necesaria hacia su bienestar espiritual. Favor

La Sociedad de San Vicente De Paúl, Conferencia Santa Rita,

amor de Cristo a los menos afortunados.
Cuando llevamos a cabo una visita lo más importante que hacemos es orar con la familia, después investigamos cada situación y proporcionamos asesoramiento financiero sobre lo que
puedan cambiar para rectificar su situación en la vida. A veces
puede ser una mejor planeación financiera o buscar ayuda de
otros recursos adicionales. Cualquiera que sea el resultado
nosotros escuchamos su historia y les hacemos saber que alguien se preocupa por ellos. Tratamos de ser el rostro de Cristo
para ellos, mostrándoles amor y compasión al mismo tiempo
que los alentamos a mejorarse a sí mismos y su relación con
Dios.
