development, and a rapid, just transition to renewable
energy!

St. Mary of Magdala
at a Prayer Service to be held
Monday, July 18,
at 7:30 PM in St. Mary’s Church.
O
nce again we will join with our neighbors from
Our Lady of Consolation in celebrating one of the
foremost leaders in the early Church. Mary of Magdala
led the group of women who accompanied Jesus and
supported him in his ministry, was present at his death,
and was the first to proclaim the good news of His
Resurrection to the other disciples.
Pope Francis recently decided to raise the celebration
of St. Mary Magdalene’s memorial to a feast day,
equal to those of the apostles. The change reflects her
status as the apostle to the apostles and a witness to
God’s mercy. The change emphasizes “the dignity of
women, the New Evangelization and the greatness of
the mystery of Divine Mercy. The Holy Father took
this decision precisely in the context of the Jubilee of
Mercy to signify the importance of this woman who
showed a great love for Christ and was much loved by
Christ,” said Archbishop Arthur Roce, the Secretary of
the Congregation for Divine Worship.

process by which adults are formally received into the Roman
Catholic Church, a process by which those who were never

complete the Sacraments of Initiation. This is a wonderful
opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more
about our faith.

A group of high school students will be volunteering this week
(July 11-14) as they make their way to Father English Center in
Paterson.
Antioch Team will be meeting on Sunday, July 10, at 7:00 PM!
Registration is currently open for our summer Antioch Retreat!
This retreat will take place from July 22-24 and is open to all
current high school students (Class of 2017-2019). The cost of the

Can you Help?—Church dusting and polishing (no
heavy-duty work) - it takes only about 1 1/2 hours every
three weeks on Wednesday mornings.
Also, we need a few more people to help clean the
purificators [wash and iron the cloths used to clean the chalice]
about once every ten weeks.
Also, we need a few people to help vacuum the church - it takes
about 1 1/2 hours every three weeks on Wednesday Mornings.

Soup Kitchen—Volunteers are needed to help serve at the
Jersey City Soup Kitchen next Saturday, July 16. Please call

he goal of this ministry is for LGBT people of
faith to explore their spirituality and share their
experience, strength and hope with one another. It will
actively provide and promote faith opportunities to build
a community for those who have experienced spiritual
disconnection.
The LGBT Ministry is inspired to action by the charism
of St. Francis of Assisi to welcome, worship and witness.

10 DE JULIO 2016 – XV Domingo ordinario
JUEVES 14 DE JULIO 2015- Memorial de Santa Kateri
Tekakwitha, Virgen
Nació en1656, fue una laica católica iroquesa; hija de un jefe mohawk
y de una india Algonquina cristiana. Nació en Ossessrnon, Nueva
York. Su nombre indígena era Tekakwitha, pero fue bautizada con
el nombre de Kateri (en castellano Catalina). A los 4 años de edad,
perdió a sus padres y a su hermano menor. A los 20 años fue bautizada
por misioneros jesuitas franceses. Kateri pronto tuvo que sufrir por
su fe grandes abusos y rechazo por parte de familiares y los otros
indios. La persecución fue tal que huyó de su pueblo. El 17 de abril
de 1680, Kateri murió a la edad de 24 años en Caughnawaga, cerca
de Montreal, Quebec. Sus últimas palabras se dice que fueron: ¡Jesús,
te amo! Catalina se caracterizó por su piedad, su incansable vida en
favor de su pueblo aborigen y por su amor a la Eucaristía. Después
de su muerte, Kateri empezó a ser muy venerada, especialmente en
Canadá. El 21 de octubre de 2012 fue proclamada santa por el papa
Benedicto XVI en la Basílica de San Pedro.
VIERNES 15 DE JULIO 2015- San Buenaventura,
Franciscano, Obispo y Doctor de la Iglesia
Nació alrededor del año 1218 en Bagnoregio, Italia; estudió filosofía
y teología en París y, habiendo obtenido el grado de maestro, enseñó
con gran provecho estas mismas asignaturas a sus compañeros de
la Orden franciscana. Fue elegido ministro general de su Orden,
cargo que ejerció con prudencia y sabiduría. Escribió la vida de San
Francisco. He aquí sus propias palabras: “La perfección del cristiano
consiste en hacer perfectamente las cosas ordinarias. La fidelidad en
las cosas pequeñas es una virtud heroica”.
“En aquel tiempo, se presentó ante Jesús un doctor de la ley para
ponerlo a prueba y le preguntó: “Maestro, ¿qué debo hacer para
conseguir la vida eterna?” Jesús le dijo: “¿Qué es lo que está escrito
en la ley? ¿Qué lees en ella?” El doctor de la ley contestó: “Amarás
al Señor tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con todas tus
fuerzas y con todo tu ser, y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”. Jesús le
dijo: “Has contestado bien; si haces eso, vivirás…”” Lucas 10: 25-37

Nacido en Italia en el año 480 dC. Desde joven decide hacerse monje.
Su hermana Escolástica, también se consagrada a Dios. Al inicio,
Benito habita en una cueva de la región montañosa de Subiaco,
lugar donde más tarde establecerá varios monasterios con numerosos
discípulos. Finalmente se traslada a la región de Montecassino,
donde funda un nuevo y célebre monasterio, en el cual reside hasta
su muerte. Allí crece su irradiación espiritual, y escribe la conocida
Regla de los monjes (Regula monachorum) que a lo largo de los siglos
tendría amplísima difusión.
El abad Benito muere en 547 dC.

Formación de Fe para Adultos (Adult Faith Formation
La justicia brota de la fe es un proceso de formación para hispanos
sobre el compromiso social y la íntima conexión entre la fe y el
amor hacia el prójimo. Esta obra promueve el desarrollo espiritual
de los que anhelan profundizar la práctica de su fe en un ambiente
tan desafiante como el de hoy y en el que somos llamados para la
Nueva Evangelización, como nos invita el Papa Francisco: “vayan
sin miedo a servir.” Los interesados deben inscribirse con el Padre

Catequesis/Preparación para la Primera Comunión en español
Este programa consiste de 2 años de preparación de septiembre
a junio. Las clases son los martes a las 6:30 PM en el Centro

Requisitos: Partida de Bautismo y tener entre 8 a 13 años de edad.

RICA
El Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA) es el proceso en
el cual los adultos se preparan para recibir los Sacramentos de Iniciación
(Bautismo, Confirmación y 1ra Santa Comunión). El propósito primario
de RICA es la iniciación de los adultos y niños no bautizados que han
llegado a la edad de la razón, sin embargo el Rito también se extienda
a los adultos bautizados pero no catequizados. Los Sacramentos se
reciben durante la Vigilia Pascual, en la noche del Sábado Santo.

Preparación Matrimonial en español
Ante todo les invitamos a HABLAR CON EL SACERDOTE, para
acompañarlos en su decisión libre y madura. Esto evita trámites, tiempo
y gastos innecesarios. Los requisitos son diferentes dependiendo de la

Visita y Sacramento de Unción de los Enfermos
Los enfermos necesitan ser acompañados por su familia. La Iglesia
es una Gran Familia. Permítanos organizar la visita semanal, para
acompañar, dialogar, escuchar, compartir un tiempo con el enfermo
o el adulto mayor que ya no puede venir solo a la Eucaristía. Por

Sacramento de la Reconciliación (Confesión)—En el año
realizamos varias jornadas de Reconciliación (Confesión), especialmente en Cuaresma y Adviento. Todos los sábados a las 4:30 PM un

para escuchar su Confesión en inglés. Si desea confesarse en español,

Quinceañeras
En México y otros países de Latinoamérica, la celebración de
la Quinceañera comienza con una Misa de agradecimiento. La
quinceañera llega a la iglesia con sus padres, padrinos y la corte de

ATENCION: El programa de asistencia médica de Santa
María NO realiza exámenes para participar en deportes en
las escuelas. Estos exámenes deben ser hechos por el médico
en cada escuela, y son gratis. Los estudiantes deben asistir a las
sesiones que cada escuela programa para aquellos que quieren
participar en actividades deportivas.
Programa de Asistencia Médica de la Iglesia de Santa
María. Todos los lunes de 7:30 a 9 PM un grupo de doctores y enfermeras
voluntarios atienden las necesidades básicas de las personas que no cuentan
con seguro medico. Ellos vienen del Hospital de San José en Paterson. No
se necesita cita previa. La clínica se encuentra localizada en el sótano del
Centro Carnevale (10 Lenox Ave. Pompton Lakes, NJ) en el salón 003.
Se cuenta con un intérprete al español.
Despensa de Comida de Santa María. Esta despensa gratuita de
comida o Food Pantry es un ministerio de nuestra parroquia que ayuda
a aproximadamente 175 familias a la semana (o sea aproximadamente
480 personas entre niños y adultos). Si usted o algún conocido necesita
un mercado de emergencia, por favor visite nuestra despensa en 22
