Brief synopsis
Scene 1
Orpheus and Eurydice are enjoying a sunny day in the country. Orpheus
receives a phone call reminding him that he is late for a rehearsal with his
band. After he leaves, Eurydice is kidnapped by a huge serpent sent by
Fat Pluto. She just manages to send Orpheus a message: “Hlp bng
kdnppd”.
Scene 2
Orpheus reports the kidnapping to the police. They seem helpful and
take down all the details, but it is clear that they are working for Fat Pluto.
He is about to shoot himself (so that he can “join Eurydice in Hell”) when
Mr Jupiter and The Oracle stop him. Mr Jupiter tells Orpheus that he has
been persuaded by The Oracle to give him another chance to save
Eurydice. This time there are no conditions, but Orpheus will have to
overcome, with his music, the malevolent creatures from Hell.
Scene 9
We are in one of the lower depths of Hell. Orpheus' music gives him the
light he needs to find Eurydice and bring her back to life, but before they
can escape they must fight the creatures guarding her.
Scene 10
The field of flowers. Mr Jupiter, The Oracle, Orpheus and Eurydice (now
expecting their first child) are having a picnic. The play ends with a toast
to love.
Scene 3
The Police are doing nothing to find Eurydice, and Orpheus has begun
drinking. A friend, Jane Hope, suggests he talk to The Oracle.
Scene 4
The Oracle's kitchen. At first Orpheus cannot believe that this is the
famous Oracle, but she promises to take him to see the all-powerful Mr
Jupiter who, she says, will know where Eurydice is being held.
Scene 5
Orpheus and The Oracle arrive at “Heaven's Gate” where they are met by
Angelica. She tells Orpheus that before entering he must confess his
sins. He does this through an automatic confessional – a machine which
is able to identify a person's sin level and, after paying the appropriate
fee, offer absolution.
Furious at having to pay so much, Orpheus and The Oracle finally meet Mr
Jupiter who tells Orpheus that Eurydice was kidnapped by Fat Pluto and
is at a place called Hell's Gate. Orpheus is distraught, but Jupiter tells
him he must have faith and offers to help provided Orpheus agrees to do
something (“anything”) for Mr Jupiter in return. Orpheus agrees and
Jupiter then states 3 conditions that Orpheus must also agree to. These
are that (1) Orpheus must not look at Eurydice, (2) he must not embrace
her and, (3) he must not tell her the reason why he can not do these
things. If he does any of these he will lose her forever. Orpheus accepts
the conditions and Mr Jupiter sends him to Hell's Gate.
Scenes 6-7
When Orpheus enters Hell's Gate he is met by Iambe, a 'hostess'. At first
she is too scared to help him, but finally tells Orpheus that Eurydice was
in the Club just before he arrived. After a search Orpheus kills the Serpent
and tries to leave with Eurydice. She can not understand why he doesn't
want to kiss her and forces him to look at her. As soon as their eyes meet,
she turns to stone.
Scene 8
A group of mourners stand around a statue of Eurydice. Overcome by
grief, Orpheus asks the mourners to leave him with his memories of her.

Sinopsis
1er Acto
Orfeo y Eurídice disfrutan de un día en el campo. Orfeo recibe una
llamada de teléfono recordándole que llega tarde al ensayo con su
grupo. Cuando se va, una serpiente gigante enviada por Plutón el Gordo
rapta a Eurídice, quien tan sólo tiene tiempo de enviar un SMS a Orfeo
en el que se lee: “SOS m an rptdo”.
2º Acto
Orfeo informa a la policía. Los agentes parecen deseosos de ayudar y
anotan todos los detalles. Más tarde resulta evidente que están a las
órdenes de Plutón el Gordo.
3er Acto
La policía no hace nada y tras demasiado tiempo sin noticias de
Eurídice, Orfeo se da a la bebida. Una amiga, Jane Esperanza, le sugiere
que consulte al Oráculo.
4º Acto
La cocina del Oráculo. Aunque a Orfeo le cuesta creer que ella sea el
famoso Oráculo, deja que le lleve ante el todopoderoso D. Júpiter,
quien, seguro, conocerá el paradero de Eurídice.
5º Acto
Orfeo y el Oráculo llegan a la Puerta del Cielo, donde les recibe Angélica.
Esta advierte a Orfeo de que, antes de pasar, debe confesar sus
pecados mediante un confesionario automático - una máquina que
mide el nivel de pecado en una persona y otorga la absolución tras el
abono de la correspondiente tasa.
Orfeo, furioso, y el Oráculo llegan hasta D. Júpiter, quien les informa de
que Eurídice ha sido secuestrada por Plutón el Gordo y se encuentra en
un lugar conocido como la Puerta del Infierno. Orfeo se muestra
afligido, pero Don Júpiter insiste en que debe tener fe y se ofrece a
ayudarle con la única condición de que, a cambio, acepte hacer algo por
él (“cualquier cosa”). Orfeo acepta, pero entonces D. Júpiter le impone
3 condiciones más: (1) Orfeo no debe mirar a Eurídice, (2) no debe
abrazarla y, (3) no puede explicarle el por qué. Si incumple alguna de
estas condiciones, la perderá para siempre. Orfeo consiente y D. Júpiter
lo envía a la Puerta del Infierno.
6º y 7º Actos
Cuando Orfeo cruza la Puerta del Infierno, se encuentra con Yambe, una
“azafata”. Al principio está demasiado asustada para ayudar a Orfeo,
pero acaba contándole que, justo antes de que él llegase, Eurídice se
hallaba en el Club. Orfeo encuentra a Eurídice y mata a la Serpiente,
huyendo con su amada. Ella no entiende el comportamiento de Orfeo y
lo obliga a mirarla. En cuanto sus ojos se encuentran, Eurídice se
convierte en piedra.
8º Acto
De nuevo en el campo de flores. Un grupo de plañideros rodea la estatua
de Eurídice. Vencido por la tristeza, Orfeo pide que le dejen solo con sus
recuerdos. Cuando está a punto de suicidarse (para “reunirse con
Eurídice en el Infierno”), D. Júpiter y el Oráculo lo detienen. D. Júpiter le
cuenta que el Oráculo le ha convencido para que le dé otra oportunidad
para salvar a su amada. Esta vez no hay condiciones, aunque Orfeo
deberá derrotar con su música a las malvadas criaturas del Infierno.
9º Acto
Estamos en las profundidades del Infierno. La música de Orfeo le da la
luz que necesita para poder encontrar a Eurídice y traerla de vuelta a la
vida, pero antes de que puedan huir deben enfrentarse a las criaturas
que la custodian.
10º Acto
El campo de flores. D. Júpiter, el Oráculo, Orfeo y Eurídice (embarazada
de su primer hijo) celebran un picnic. La obra termina con un brindis por
el amor.
