Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are already in the fourth Sunday of Advent. In
today's Gospel we encounter another key figure of
this Advent season: ST. JOSEPH. He is presented as
a just and holy man who humbly, silently and
obediently assumed the role of father with regard to
Jesus. Joseph did not want to interfere in the plan of
God, and therefore decided to depart secretly. He
did not feel worthy of being protagonist of an event
of such dimensions. And yet God called him and
entrusted him with the most valuable responsibility
in the world: the care of his only Son and His Holy
Mother. He was called to assume the role of father
in the Holy Family.
The angel of the Lord assured José that this
happened "so that what God had announced
through His prophet might be fulfilled, so when
Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord
commanded, and took his wife home.” That is why
Joseph, despite having made a decision, since he
was a holy man, dared to expect the impossible: that
the prophecy made to the House of David was now
being fulfilled in Mary.
We too are called to proclaim the Gospel of God as
Apostles. But to be Apostles, we must first learn to
be good disciples. God calls all of us to participate
in the work of salvation. We all have different
missions. None is essential but we are all important.
For God there are no second or third roles: in the
history of salvation we are all protagonists. Let us
contemplate Joseph today: he did not seek recognition. On the contrary, he wanted to flee secretly, but
he did not. He obeyed God's call. And his humbleness became greatness in the hands of the Most
High. Like Joseph, Mary and Jesus let us place ourselves daily and unconditionally in the hands of
God, assuming our role in the history of salvation.
In a few days we will be celebrating Christmas. I
wish with all my heart that the season of Advent has
helped us to prepare for the birth of Jesus in our
hearts. Merry Christmas and many blessings to you
and your families.

75th “DID YOU KNOW?”…
The Seton Mission Club was formed in 1975 with the
purpose of serving various mission
groups such as the St. Vincent de Paul
Society, the Salvation Army and also
our Parish missionaries. Throughout
the years they raised funds by coming
together and making quilts which
were then sold. The Seton Mission
Club designed and created the Parish’s
50th Anniversary Quilt which now hangs in the entrance
of our Church. It is located in the large glass case.

A BIG THANK YOU to the many bakers who
donated delicious bakery for our
17th annual Bake Sale!
A good me was had by all volunteers working as
well as those purchasing bakery and cra s.

Retired Religious Collection. If you still wish to

Gospel Reflection - Fourth Sunday of Advent:
The message of this gospel is one of “trust.” Joseph
trusts God when God tells him in a dream not to be afraid
to get married to Mary, even though Joseph has no idea
of what the future holds.
We are called to trust God, no matter what. Sometimes we are afraid of certain things and to trust can be a
scary thing! We need to have faith that things will turn
out for the best, that it will be OK. God is with us. We
need to do our part and leave the rest to God. God
works through people that he/she puts in our lives –
especially through the love and support of family and
friends. “Emmanuel – God is with us.”
~What makes a person trust? What helps to keep that
trust strong?
~What are some things you can count on or trust in
your family?
~What promises of God do you trust in?
~What are some of your fears?
POSADAS CELEBRATION: “Posadas” = “lodging”
Posadas is the 9-day novena (9 months of
Mary’s pregnancy) which is based on a 400-yr.
old Mexican tradition. It involves the reenactment of Mary & Joseph seeking lodging
on the night of Jesus’ birth. The candle-lit procession (held in Sacred Heart Hall) ends in a short Nativity
play, accompanied by song, praying of the rosary and a feast.
All are welcome to attend the remaining 2 days of Posadas
on Sun. Dec. 22 and Mon. Dec. 23 at 6:30 pm.
Thank you to EVERYONE who donated items for

be able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas.

El Club de Misiones
“Seton” se formó en
1975 con el propósito de
servir a varios grupos
que trabajaban para la
comunidad como la sociedad de San Vicente
de Paúl, Salvation
Army y también los Misioneros de la parroquia.
Las señoras se juntaban para tejer y así poder recaudar fondos vendiendo lo tejido. El Club de
Misiones “Seton” diseñó y creó el edredón del
50 aniversario de la parroquia que ahora está colgada en la entrada de nuestra iglesia.
OFICINA PARROQUIAL
Debido a los días festivos la oficina
parroquial permanecerá cerrada el
24 y 25 de diciembre al igual que el 1
de enero.
El 26, 30 y 31 de diciembre solo estará abierta medio día de 8:00am a 12:00pm.

Mensaje del Padre José Antonio Castañeda
Estimados hermanos y hermanas:
Estamos ya en el IV Domingo de Adviento. Irrumpe
en el Evangelio de hoy otra figura clave del Adviento:
SAN JOSÉ. Se nos explica hoy cómo este varón era
justo y santo: en la humildad, en el silencio y en la
obediencia, insigne asumió el papel de padre con
respecto a Jesús. José no quería estorbar en el plan de
Dios, y por eso decidió apartarse en secreto. No se
sentía digno de ser protagonista de un acontecimiento
de tales dimensiones. Y sin embargo, Dios lo llamó y le
confió lo más valioso que hay en el mundo: a su Hijo
único y a la Madre Santísima. Él debía asumir el papel
de padre: ser “la sombra de Dios” en la Sagrada
Familia.
El ángel del Señor le confirmó a José que eso
sucedería "para que se cumpliera lo que había dicho el
Señor por el profeta, y por eso cuando José se despertó
hizo lo que le había mandado el ángel del Señor y se
llevó a casa a su mujer." Por eso José, a pesar de haber
tomado su decisión, como "era bueno", se atrevió a
esperar lo imposible: que en María se cumpliera la
profecía hecha a la Casa de David.
Estamos llamados a anunciar el Evangelio de Dios
como apóstoles. Pero para ser apóstoles, primero
tenemos que aprender a ser buenos discípulos. Dios nos
llama a todos para que participemos en la obra de la
salvación. Todos tenemos misiones distintas. Ninguno
es imprescindible… pero todos somos importantes. Para
Dios no hay segundos ni terceros papeles: en la historia
de la salvación todos somos protagonistas. Miremos
hoy a José: él no buscó aparecer ni brillar. Al contrario: quiso huir en secreto pero obedeció al llamado de
Dios y su pequeñez se convirtió en algo muy grande en
manos del Altísimo. Al igual que José, María y Jesús,
pongámonos cada día incondicionalmente en manos de
Dios para asumir y realizar nuestro papel en la historia
de la salvación.
En unos días estaremos celebrando la Navidad.
Deseo de todo corazón que el tiempo de Adviento nos
ayude a prepararnos para el nacimiento de Jesús en
nuestros corazones. Feliz Navidad y muchas
bendiciones a sus familias.

Solo para reflexionar...
En estas semanas anteriores a la Navidad, quizá
estemos muy ocupados pensando en regalos y en cosas
que creemos que harán muy felices a las personas de
nuestra familia. Eso en si es bueno; pero todos esos
regalos, con todo lo bueno que representan, no son
mas que un símbolo de una realidad mucho mas
amplia: el inmenso regalo, el tesoro de incalculable
valor y lo que nos puede llenar de una felicidad
verdadera, profunda y duradera es la enorme gloria a
la que estamos verdaderamente llamados y destinados
por Dios.
En las lecturas de hoy, y especialmente en la de
Romano, se nos da a conocer ese destino glorioso:
estamos llamados y destinados por Dios, santos e
inmaculados ante El, por el amor. ¿Qué significa esto?
Que se nos llama a vivir con una enorme dignidad;
que se nos ha dado el regalo de la presencia fuerte y
constante de Dios con nosotros y que eso es nuestra
fuerza para vivir en este mundo con paz, alegría y
felicidad, a pesar de todos los pesares, los dolores y las
dificultades de la vida. Somos hijos de un gran rey.
Estamos llamados a la gloria. Todos los regalos que
hacemos son signos de esta alegría. Signos externos:
no realidad profunda.
